I’m really confused. Is there such a thing as a virtual hub? We just recently purchased some Samsung Smartthings appliances. When I reinstalled the app, it shows a Smartthings HUB “connected” with no devices attached. I can’t even add the appliances to it. INFO/Settings doesn’t show me anything other than location which I set and no devices attached. I can’t even see how to find an ip or MAC address.
What complicates this more is I have 2 ip addresses on my google hub I can’t identify so one may be Samsung. A long time ago (10-12 years) I remember having some Samsung devices but got rid of them.
So. Is this a real device plugged in somewhere in my house that I have yet to locate or is it just a virtual artifact?
Yes, some Samsung appliances offer the ability to have a ST hub that will support Wi-Fi devices and Matter over Wi-Fi devices without any additional hardware. For example, my fridge supports it and I’ve been able to add Matter over Wi-Fi devices to that hub. Additionally, if you purchase the Dongle for ST Hub, it will add support for Zigbee devices and at some point in the future, Thread and Thread Border Router support which will provide Matter over Thread.
You should be able to use the ST CLI or the API Browser+ to see hubs that are on your network.
You can also install Edge drivers to these hubs as well.
