Video Monitoring - V2 Hub - Intergration with existing camera systems

After going through the list of newly supported Cameras, I decided on the the Dlink DCS-5029L. Still waiting on the V2 hub though to try out the video integration, but my opinion on the camera itself as followed:
NOTE - I’ve used several iOS cam apps to try and find the best phone/video cam experience.

Pros

  • Image Quality is impressive
  • Dlink Lite App “feels” decent enough on iOS. A few taps and you’re looking at your animals destroy your couch while you sit at work, completely helpless.
  • Able to use see live streaming while at work without any fancy router configuration ie firewall, upnp blah blah blah.
  • Its reliable so far (just 2 days though)

Cons

  • $110. I feel the price point is a bit high, but maybe its worth it to not have to deal with a Foscam experience. shrug

Neutral

  • Setup experience was decent. Had a default password issue, resolved with a factory reset
  • haven’t tried to connect the camera to the router’s wifi, only LAN connection.
  • have yet to try motion detection
  • have yet to try any sort of recording abilities

Conclusion
3 out of 5 stars
Pretty gosh darn cool little camera. The camera looks pretty intimating actually. The gf and I named it Darth Vader due to its black shiny helmet like shroud. Not too happy about the price point though. I would most definitely give this camera a 5 out of 5 if a camera with this quality and user experience would come in at $60 - $70 dollar price point. If it wasn’t for needing to throw a camera in a vacation home asap, I personally would be holding off on camera integration. If you have the option of holding off, I would say wait until the ST supported list starts to populate with more options.

I’ll provide a camera/hub user experience update once the v2 hub arrives.
