Using Z-wave Lamp dimmer with led light strip?

I have a Z-wave lamp module dimmer that I’d like to use to control some white led light strip that I bought to do under-cabinet lighting in my kitchen. The lighting works great on/off and but the dimmer unit can’t dim the light strips, it just stays at full brightness as I dim and then just turns off once I hit 5%.

My light strip: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HSF64JG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The light strip power supply: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019Q3U72M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’m pretty sure this is due to the fact that the light strip runs on DC power while the z-wave outlet is AC, but I thought the power supply would convert the voltage and allow dimming to work, but it doesn’t.

Would one of these work instead of that power supply?

You’re on the right track!

A “dimmable driver” like the first link should work. Make sure you get one sized appropriately for the wattage of your LED strip. Oftentimes they spec wattage per foot for LED strips.

A couple years ago I set up two similar LED lighting strips & controlled them with GE in-wall Z-Wave dimmers. Worked out great :sunglasses:

Haha, yeah I’ve definitely explored that but I have no need for RGBW, it’s just under kitchen cabinet lighting, and the fibaro controller is expensive. If I were to do anything else I’d probably just get the H801 controller that I’ve read about on other forums, but I don’t have the time to do all the flashing and setup.
