Updates to Google Integration

My observations

The devices that I wish to exclude from Google integration are not duplicate; I wish to exclude them for security reasons.

Support for Samsung Soundbars has been added! It allows you to control playback (pause, resume…), volume, mute, input (HDMI,optical…) and on/off.

Great news! Is there any plans to be able to select the shared devices?

Home Assistant allows it:

Hubitat Elevation allows it:

Why SmartThings does not allow it?

i’m kinda surprised some of their partners aren’t demanding this. Big partners like Kasa typically don’t like their devices integrated to voice assistants through any system but their own.

I’ve had kasa stuff linked to google via ST from before we couldn’t choose. Nothing indicated they would have preferred me not to?

I don’t know if Kasa specifically requires this. It was just an example.

Well some smart lock companies have already pulled out of the integration if I have understood other threads correctly, so that backs up what you’re saying to that extent.

Except that changing them from switches to stateful scenes broke all of my routines in GH, it can only see switches in the routine. So now when I say ā€œgoodnightā€ it can’t turn off the tv and stereo.
Even the Harmony Hub that is connected to GH directly can’t do this, it ONLY worked in ST the way it was before.

Do you mean TP-Link Kasa?

Funny you mention, this guide suggests that you can select which devices are shared with Google.

Yes. I don’t see anywhere in that guide that suggests that, though.

It’s might be my understanding of

Step 7: Select a device, then click on Next.

Anyhow, is it too hard to decide about this on the device level?

So many use cases shows that sharing everything is not working and people do not want to use it.

Why nobody from SmartThings can acknowledge this?

I think that’s the normal process of assigning it to a room in Google Home.

I’m guessing it’s because we won’t like the news

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get Smartthings Smart Home alarm into Google?

Can it be done?

Thanks in advance.

it can not directly. The best you can do is use virtual switches.

Thanks. So I’d create a virtual device then link that to the Smart Home Monitor?

Only the Virtual Switch seems to show up in Google not the other virtual devices, when I tried it.

You could create a virtual switch that when turned on, runs the scene with a lock. Then instead of launching a scene, you could turn on the switch. You could also create another scene that turns on the virtual switch if you want to say ā€œrun this sceneā€ instead of saying ā€œturn on this deviceā€. It works well.
