Update Required: New Sonos Integration

And now I just got this email from SmartThings:

“Hello,

[On September 25, 2019] we will discontinue our SMS notification service for non-US phone numbers. After this date, you will no longer receive text messages from SmartApps in the SmartThings Classic app.

You can still receive alerts about activity in your home using push notifications. Enable push notifications in your Routines, Smart Home Monitor, or other SmartApps in the SmartThings Classic app.

Contact us if you have any questions or need assistance enabling your push notifications.

Thank you,
The SmartThings Team”

So two days notice of SMS being removed for UK Numbers. Thanks a lot for the heads-up! :rage:

Let’s keep this one about Sonos.

Okay I’m sorry but I feel stupid. I updated my Sonos system by removing and adding. I’m also using the new app trying to add functions. I go to custom automations/add Sonos speakers and then only gives me the option of volume and mute. From reading up there looks to be a ton new options but can someone tell me exactly how to access and do this. I’ve asked before but it always gets segwayed to asking but TTS. Thanks for the help!

I miss my voice notifications through webcore. Really hoping permissions are given to the new APIs soon.

Permissions are there, I am sure the Webcore minions are cranking the code changes…Check for updates, here:

Thanks! Things have been quiet over at webcore. Lol.

I am having the same problem. The volume is so loud that it scares the heck out of all of us. I am surprised that nobody else has mentioned this. Is there a way to adjust the announcement volume on Sonos for notifications.
Thanks

I ran into the same issue. Even if I lower my volume manually and then try TTS, it’s insanely loud. I don’t see a way to change it. Turned off TTS for now.

I opened a case with smartthings and they said it’s Sonos issue. Smh.

My audio alerts seems to be coming through at normal volume using the custom automation creator and my Ikea Symfonisk

So you finally bought one.

The SmartApp what I have updated and posted above, changes the volume according the set value. I’ve just tested and it works.

I did! Much to my wife’s dismay :joy:

Which smart app are you referring to?

Please excuse me, it was in the other topic.

After this update, and the update from Sonos, my Sonos speakers no longer work as a Text to Speech device.

I assume you need to use the original DH to maintain the text to speech feature, and that this is due to be removed on 17th October?

Is it possible to obtain the source code for the DH and then install it as a custom DH? I can currently see both on the IDE, “LAN Sonos Player” & “LAN Sonos Player Websocket”

to use the traditional TTS, yes. But you can also TTS to Sonos using the new app’s custom automation creator.

Thanks, I believe the TTS is not available via webcore? I have various webcore routines which send TTS to my sonos speakers. This is why I’m wondering whether the soon to be removed DH could be copied.

Hi Paul, I’m looking for the same solution as yourself. I have lots of Pistons that use TTS and the sentances are constructed using variables, etc. This would be impossible to achieve without WebCoRE, so I’m waiting for a WebCoRE TTS solution. Please post here if you find one! Thanks!
