We will be performing a planned security maintenance related to Matter devices for all Matter supported hubs. This maintenance window will start June 23rd and is planned to last approximately 10 days. This work ensures the continued security of your Matter devices and fabric.
This security maintenance will happen automatically in the background, though some users may notice the following:
-
Your Matter devices may briefly disconnect and re-connect during this update, this usually takes only a few seconds, but could take up to 30 seconds in certain circumstances.
-
We have seen that some Matter light bulbs may briefly blink when they re-connect. This behavior is specific to certain light bulb manufacturers and is nothing to be concerned by.
-
If your Matter devices are shared with other smart home platforms, you might receive a notification from those platforms stating that your Matter devices have been added to SmartThings. Your devices in SmartThings have not changed and this notification is a side effect of how these devices identify themselves after the change. There will be no action needed from these notifications and they can be disregarded.
We will be monitoring this thread, along with our other normal channels, for any feedback. So if you believe this change happened to your setup and think there is an issue please let us know. When reporting an issue it helps us to quickly investigate if there is a problem or not if you temporarily enable support permissions on your account. To provide our team access, please follow these instructions:
- Go to SmartThings Web (my.smartthings.com)
- Log in to your Samsung Account
- Select the Menu (⋮) and choose Settings
- Toggle on Account Data Access
- Select the time period and choose Confirm
