Matter Device Off-line

I have Aqara M3 hub and some devices connected to it, this hub is connected to SmartThings hub through matter. Aqara hub got offline couple of times in the smartthings hub while it’s online in Aqara app and healthy. Note that I have another matter devices in the router and never have this issue.

Why this issue?

How to reconnect without removing from Smartthings and connect again?

Since the SmartThings app is cloud-based and there are ongoing server issues, the offline you see in the app may not be “real”, in the sense that it may be perfectly connected from the Matter side but the app / servers don’t know.

Do your local SmartThings automations with those devices work? If they do, it will fix itself eventually.

Tuesday morning, the SmartThings incident has been declared fixed but none of my Matter devices are working.

  1. Aqara M2 Hub with 6 leak sensors and 3 temp/humidity sensors. All temperature sensors show that their last update was 6:11 pm CDT last night. I’m assuming the leak sensors are useless in SmartThings, they only report it there a problem.
  2. Kasa EP40M Matter-over-Wi-Fi Dual Outdoor outlet. Trying to switch this causes several seconds of spinning circle, no error but not action. I’ve got no alternate app to control this
  3. Two Leviton D26HD Matter-over-Wi-Fi dimmers. These work via the My Leviton app, no response and no error trying to control via SmartThings.

I have a SmartThings V2/2015 model hub. Looking at the hub using the AWA I see it says matterAvailability is Unavailable. Attempted reboot via the AWA resulted in “Error… The hub may be offline or already rebooting”.

All my Zigbee and Z-Wave devices are working normally.

Gonna go yank power from the hub and restart it.

Has it? It still says degraded experience, not fully resolved, etc. https://status.smartthings.com

I would not restart the hub just yet :see_no_evil_monkey:

Sigh. I plead lack of caffeine. Somewhere in the middle of the night I looked at an email from ST via my watch. I misremembered it as closing the incident.

In any case, the physical reboot has brought matterAvailability back to Available. Sensors have reported in and Matter-over-Wi-Fi devices are again functional via SmartThings.

I tried some local automation but they didn’t work, this prof that devices are offline

Hi, @hezqeel
Are you still having issues with Matter devices going offline?
