Upcoming Migration for Groovy Devices

Yes there is only one model and it connects via the Hue hub or directly to ST with a community developed edge driver. I’ve tried both and both work very well. But I found the functionality better when connected to the ST hub directly

About 90 minutes ago all my DTH/Groovy based devices migrated to Edge drivers that have no hope in hell of working. For example, my GoControl wireless button controllers migrated to a Zwave on/off switch! Talk about a square peg in a round hole – I’m sure @smartthings will now herald “we migrated all devices” … in this case to an on/off switch driver that can’t work. But, they’re all now migrated! Whoop. RIP.

Are your devices GoControl/WA00Z-1? If so, @Mariano_Colmenarejo added the fingerprint for that device to his Z-Wave Button Mc Edge driver. You can subscribe to his channel and install the driver here.

@Mariano_Colmenarejo did what @nayelyz refused to do [OBSOLETE] GoControl Smart Wireless Light Switch Cover WA00Z-1 (see post #135 for 2023 Edge Driver) - #127 by nayelyz

Mariano you are a rock star!

… gotta go fish those switches out of my electronic recycle bin. MANY THANKS Bruce!

Another surprise today after a bunch of my devices with DTHs were migrated to Edge: it seems like any routine that referenced a migrated device was deactivated/switched off. I had to scroll through tons of disabled routines to figure out which were previously enabled. :face_vomiting:

When a device is switched to a driver that doesn’t have the capability(ies) that were referenced in the Routine, they are removed from the Routine. That will happen with configuration and explorer drivers as well. Believe it or not, it’s better than before because it used to be the entire Routine was deleted.

Yeah, the WA00Z is a two endpoint button that seems to have been automatically migrated to a switch edge driver. Not the same capabilities at all.

I’m actually not referencing the button controller. Basically it seems like any device which was still using a DTH and it had a Routine that referenced it, that routine got switched off – nothing deleted from the routine, but it was turned off. I had to go through and turn them all back on. TOTALLY weird.

My weather tile got “migrated” and is doa. Trying to create something similar with a virtual illuminance device and routines based on time and weather. Is there a way to see the history of what weather is recording like you could with the weather tile? Trying to see what kind of info it feeds back and how often. So far haven’t been able to get any of them to fire, but since dealing with large ranges of time and weather status it may just be really low frequency of updates.

See the following link.

Thanks, but that doesn’t really answer the question about seeing history of the built in weather. I don’t have an always-on device to run a server, and that’s actually a link to me discussing it.

I’m trying to explore using the built-in weather before I give up and buy an outdoor illuminance sensor.

I was reading some Amazon reviews on the sensor and someone mentioned, when connected directly to ST (they didn’t use Hue hub) it only reports illuminance when motion is detected. Have you found that to be the case?

No they update the LUX a lot. I’m getting updates every 5 minutes when there is a change. It also updates more frequently if there is a sudden large increase in light levels. One is connected directly to ST hub with an edge driver.

That happened to mine as well. Hopefully we are beyond most of the surprises now.

I accidentally deleted the new SmartThings weather device (tile?). The new one in the last couple of days. Anyone know how to get it back? Scanning for new devices doesn’t work.
Thanks

Go to the Life tab and click the + in the upper right.

Unfortunately, it is not there.

Press 3 dots on Favorites page, select show statues information, select weather.

Weather was and is selected and turned on in that screen. If i select the temperature in the favorites screen it takes me to weather.com in my browser.
The weather device I accidentally deleted was the migrated version of the DTH SmartThings weather.

The DTH weather tiles are dead, so what you deleted was useless, There are no Edge Drivers to convert to. The Icon on the favorites page is the replacement.

As an alternate @TAustin has a weather driver, but it requires you to run a sever to connect it to the intenet.
