I am fairly new to ST and have not got into coding enough to be able to create my own Smart App. So I thought I would reach out to the community.
What I am looking for is a way to create a Routine or an App whichever it would be called that turns on lights when all the following triggers occur:
Someone just arrived causing the system to switch from Away mode to another mode like Disarmed (Don’t want this to happen if someone is already home)
This specific door opens
It is after sunset
Then I would also like the option to have the lights automatically turn off after “x” minutes.
For a scenario example, we have a floor light that we keep on when we are away so that when we get home after dark we can see when entering the house without having to turn on all the other lights right away. I want this light to be off while we are gone and when we first arrive and open a specific door it turns on but then turns off again after say 5 minutes.
Personally I use CoRE for all my home automation stuff.
It is very versatile.
Do a search on 'CoRE ’ and you will find numerous threads on how to install and getting peer assistance in setting things up.
Thanks for the information! I am going to check out CoRE. Don’t be surprised if you see me post in the peer assistance area about this if I can’t figure it out, but I am hoping I will be able to stumble my way through it.
BTW, A lot of people get confused between the terms “mode” and the smart home monitor armed status, particularly because each has a value called “Home” even though they are completely different things.
The following thread should clear it up for anyone who is confused:
I have tried creating my own routine and that gets me close but there is no ability to turn off after “x” minutes and it reads that if any of the triggers occur where I want all triggers to occur to qualify. I also tried Smart Lights SmartApp and it gives an option for a trigger if you have a light sensor, but I do not that is why I wanted to use Sunset as one of the multiple triggers.
