Trouble pairing a GE Outdoor switch

I bought 3 of the same GE Outdoor switches from Lowes tonight and am having a heck of a time pairing 2 of them. I put the hub in pairing mode (Connect a new device) and the Live Log shows the search has started. I hit the button on the switch and it looks like it found something and stopped the search but the app never shows anything. This was on the first one I opened. The second one paired right up with no problems. The third one never showed anything until I did an exclude and is now in the same place the first one is in.
Here is the log:

I tried a zwave repair and multiple exclusions and inclusions.

What am I missing?
Scott

It looks like I never get “Thing Added” in the log…if that helps

I often have to put the hub into General Exclude mode, then exclude a new device before I can add it, even though it has never been added before.

To exclude new devices that refuse to connect (Do this when you know switches, motions and other devices will not be used to prevent them from becoming excluded/removed from your network, see step 8 below):

  1. Press the 3 vertical dots in the SmartThings App
  2. Press My Locations
  3. Press the gear icon on your location
  4. Scroll down to Home Hub and press the + sign
  5. Press Z-Wave Utilities
  6. Press General Device Exclusion
  7. Read the prompt and then press Remove.
  8. Now active the include/exclude process on your device. You should see 1 unknown device excluded in the SmartThings App. Get out of general exclude mode asap, it can exclude switches, etc if left in that mode while someone in your house activates a switch/motion, etc… depending on how those devices process exclude mode.
  9. Press Done a couple of times and then go try to connect your new device again (reboot the device and put it back into Include mode)

An aeon minimote is a lifesaver when configuring stubborn zwave devices. You get confirmation that it’s been reset and is thus ready to pair.

So I found my problem and made a new post about it on the off chance someone else runs into the same problem and may be easier for them to find.
