I purchased an Ecolink Z-Wave Garage Door Tilt Sensors (TILT-ZWAVE2-ECO) I paired it with my Smartthings Hub. They don’t seem to work at all, unless I have them oriented upside down and then they sense the door to be open, when it should be closed and visa versa.
If it’s not upside down, the only other thing I can think of is if the bearing sensor (the cylinder inside) is bent downwards. When the entire tilt sensor is vertical (mounted), the little cylinder sensor should be upright at about a 45 degree angle outward from the board.
Thank you for the replies. I was tilting it in the wrong direction, when trying to make sure it worked ok. It works fine, except for the led staying on at times, instead of blinking. I’m going to replace the cylinder with a mercury tilt switch.
Good call on the mercury switch. I have some on the way from China via eBay. I’m thinking of putting it in parallel to the bearing sensor as a failsafe.
Post some pics when you do yours. I’m interested in seeing it.
