I connected my tapo P110M to ST via the tapo app. However, the integration succeeded but no consumption data is transferred, only power on and off is possible.
I tried deleting it from ST and then adding it again but no change.
Anyone else had this problem? In principle I think it should transfer the consumption data as well… But this is not happening.
How did you connect it? Using the cloud to cloud [c2c] integration or Matter.
The [c2c] integration definitely does NOT include power or energy.
The Matter integration may or may include NOT power and energy. It would depend on if Tapo is using Matter 1.3 and I would guess they are NOT. SmartThings has adopted Matter 1.3 but not many others have.
I tried both methods, connected via the Tapo app and via Matter. But unfortunately with both, turning it off and on is all I can do with it .But I guess I can’t expect anything else.
If you have a hub that is running 54.13, it supports Matter 1.3 which supports power consumption. However, your device must also support 1.3 and provide an endpoint with the proper deviceTypeId for that capability. If Tapo is claiming they have power consumption reporting, you need to talk with them.
Until firmware version 45.13, ST didn’t support Matter 1.3 which introduced power reporting. So, both your hub and the device must support 1.3 to see it on the device card and in ST Energy. Prior to 45.13, ST and Eve Energy had a special arrangement to support power reporting for their Matter devices.
I’m sure your right, however these and other Tapo matter extensions use the cloud to cloud integration to integrate power usage into SmartThings energy while at the same time can be added to SmartThings as matter plugs/outlets.
Thank you for the help and the info, I tried the energy, but unfortunately it didn’t work, even though the automatic measurement could not be used to control the plug behavior. E.g.: If the voltage drops below x Watt send a notification etc…
Not really, the P110M got the Matter 1.3 certification a couple months ago and Tapo was supposed to have the update released already but that has not happened yet. Same goes for other Tapo products like the Matter bridges (H100, etc.), we are all waiting for the firmware update.
The first time I used the Tapo P110M last month, it initially displayed data on SmartThings. I then changed the country in my Samsung profile to update the currency to the local one. I was aware that the SmartThings app would be reset, it never displayed the energy usage data again.
Hi, @aenriquez
Do you have issues only with SmartThings Energy or the device itself doesn’t show info like the sample provided in the first post?
I think your case could be different since you changed the country of your account, and since many things change from one country to another (for example, Data Protection Policies), the change might have caused an internal issue. So, I suggest you contact Customer Support about this.
Select the time period and confirm - In this step, please select “Until turned off”, once the team finishes, we’ll let you know so you can disable it again.
This could be a bigger issue, because there are several reports in the German Samsung Members community that the Aeotec Home Energy Meter Gen5 and Gen8 doesn’t show up in SmartThings Energy.
If a device should work, it should be the Aeotec HEM. From what I can remember, Aeotec blames ST.
I think that powerConsumptionReport.powerConsumption is populated in these cases.
If they used to show up and now they don’t, it could be, but they must be explicitly supported in the ST Energy app, having the capability powerConsumptionReport doesn’t mean they’re supported.
Either way, those users should contact Customer Support.
I’ll only look into more details about the missing capability for @i.kovacs86 since that is in the detail view of the device
