[ST Edge] Philips Hue LAN [BETA] (3rd Party Driver, Not ST Native)

Hello! I recently came across this and followed your process and was able to sucessfully add this to my Samsung TV Hub (Samsung S95B) and evrything worked great. Created several rooms and added my individual lights, and no more popcorning and even created some routines. We then had a power outage, and when the power came back on, my Hue Hub along with all hue devices showed offline and could not be controlled. Tried troubleshooting, didnt work. So removed hue hub, uninstalled driver and unsubscribed from page. Then tried doing process again to re-add. When I scan for nearby devices, nothing appears. I also could not find how to restart the TV Hub, so couldn’t do that troubleshooting step. Any ideas?

Definitely don’t advise this. After you do this, there are no traces of the problem that would allow a developer to diagnose the problem.

check for a room in ST called ā€œNo room assignedā€. They may have placed the hub there. Otherwise, search for the Hue hub device in the device search screen.

I don’t have one, but I would just unplug it and plug it back in.

If the above doesn’t help, I would guess that your Hue hub is not networked with your ST hub. To get any further, I would need the logs from your ST hub, but you would need to install the ST cli to gain access to that. If you go that route, you can DM me the log you get while scanning for devices.

I wonder if reboot for the TV hub is available in Advanced Web App

I too had a power cut and noticed that all my lighting rooms with this driver went offline. However I just left everything alone and over the next couple of hours, they just gradually came back online. I was surprised it took a while but everything is fine now.

As @black-paladin reports, I have noticed identical behaviour across power cuts.

I also found that switching all rooms on at the hub level in the Hue app (and then off again) also immediately brings the rooms/zones back online in ST :+1:

Thanks for the replies! Ill try this when I get off work and will update here. @blueyetisoftware thanks for the reply and noted all your points. Super new to all this, so obviously dont know what im doing haha. Thanks for the guidance.

So in all of your cases, power was cut to both hubs at the same time? So they would have been booting up and searching for each other at the same time as well. I will try to replicate this if that is the case.

Yes that is the case for me. I just got done with your suggestions and I am still not able to find the hub. The link to the Advanced Web App worked by the way @jkp and i was able to reboot there. Yeti can you dm me? I cant find how to dm you… sorry.

@blueyetisoftware I’m embarrassed to say that I found the issue for me at least. When my TV rebooted, for some reason it defaulted to a different wifi network than the rest of my smart home is on. When I changed the wifi network back, I was able to re-add the Hue Hub and all rooms and lights seem to be working.

Yep, and all network switches/hubs/routers Sonos ect. as well so a lot of rebooting going on…

True. The router would be out too. That’s a good variation, as I have been rebooting the hubs.

@blueyetisoftware For info:

I have 2 Hue Hubs, 1 hardwired to main router, one hardwired to wi-fi mesh node… it is 50/50 as to which one does not remain present in ST and, above that 50/50 if there is a drop out…

Never an issue though as the on/off via Hue has always ā€˜re-onlined’ them from ST pov… remote or otherwise (I’ve had a lot of power outages recently )

@blueyetisoftware well. Today we lost internet and the issue is back. I dont think we lost power this time, however the modem and router was reset. I made sure this time my tv and hub were on the correct wifi and they are, yet the hue hub and all devices have remained offline for the entirety of today.

You can try refreshing your hub device by going to the details and pulling down to refresh. If it doesn’t have the IP address, that will cause it to try and resolve it. It would help to get a log file for your device. You can DM me a log if you want more detailed help.

Yes, that was the case for me. Two Hue bridges, ST hub, network router and switches etc, all rebooting at the same time. 18 Room Lights gradually reappeared over maybe 30 minutes to an hour as I recall.
