Yea I think ours will soon become a toy / drool canvas for my little one. I’d like to make it easy to remove, I’ve seen some that swivel and slide out.
This just popped up as we were talking about this, pretty funny:

I have trouble finding a spot to mount mine. We have “open concept” home with very little wall space. My kids know that a tablet is a great source of entertainment. Now, they can move furniture to reach places. So I have to be creative…
Haha you need screws for that then…
I have 2 Digiland tablets that I want to mount but just can’t justify a permanent mount right now. My wife already let me add a 19" monitor mounted in the wall for our whole house audio/jukebox setup. I don’t want to cut 2 more holes so I can wire up the tablets, so I have been fighting with myself on this for a few weeks now
I think I am going to go with @obycode’s approach with the command strips and just take it down to charge every once in a while. Also if it gets enough use we can talk about a permanent mount, if not I just take it down.
@obycode, Do you have to replace the command strips everytime you take it down to charge?
Thanks,
Scott
I need something that comes off easily and is bullet/child proof at the same time, preferably with no visible wires.
And did I mention no damage to walls?
Sounds like a good Kickstarter campaign.
Yea unless they figure out wireless charging across rooms I think you’re screwed on the no damage to walls part.
Nope, its the velcro kind, so the one side stays on the wall, and the other side stays on the back of the iPad. Mine have been like this for probably 6 months and have not had to change out any velcro strips, and we take the one in the living room down quite often.
I will vouch for these things too. They are surprisingly strong. The pack I have says 4 will hold 12lbs.
You can also take a poster or photo that’s the same size as the tablet and put Velcro strips on it, so you can put it up when you take the tablet down and that increases the XAF factor.
We use a lot of Velcro strips in the house and as long as the temperature stays under a hundred degrees they work really well. Not good for the car because when the temperature gets really hot, the adhesive melts.
Here was my wireless charging mount hack…
That’s awesome. Looks like I might have to put in an order for some wireless chargers. Brilliant!
Very cool!

Got the idea when I came across the launch port ( http://www.iportproducts.com/launchport#launchport-intro ) product, but was looking for an android option and also didn’t want to shell out hundreds of dollars for a specific tablet case. I used 3m tape to hold the magnets so if we want to change out the tablet in the future it would be a pretty easy thing to do. And it cost me under $50 CAD.
Is there a way to insert blank tiles? From an organizational standpoint, this could be really useful (and it would still support the linear/flowable layout that @625alex has designed). These tiles wouldn’t actually do anything, they’d just be blank placeholders that could be added in order to move other things around.
SmartTiles 5.2.0 is out!
Uh oh, my tiles aren’t displaying. I used the simple installer.
Same. None of my dashboards are working.
Same here. Is it the pending update to 5.2 that is causing the malfunction? The app itself functions except for reordering things, and the dashboard is no longer tiles, but a white screen with a line of simple text for each tile, with no toggling functionality.
That aside, I’m am continually blown away by how good this app is. Thank you!
Use command strips as a demo, before making a sofisticated mount.
Same here, my automatically loaded 5.1.1 is not displaying correctly. My old (6months) manually loaded ActiON is working correctly.
Great App, thanks Alex!
