SmartThings (Samsung Connect) UI Update - Android 1.7.27-25, iOS 1.6.27

The Gear app for SmartThings actually works really good, as long as the device isn’t disconnected…

Crappy part about the Gear app and selecting devices is that if you’re like me and have a ton of devices, you’ll be spending some time getting this configured with the devices you want to control.

You got it to work John ? I did a simple sleep test to a light but it failed to switch off, maybe the watch didnt enter sleep properly, i did just put it down for a while

Sure did, but not to the extent you’re trying. I will soon though.

Ah, but I just got home and the new app and Gear show my devices as disconnected, but Classic is perfect.

Just checked again and the Samsung dishwasher issue has been fixed at some point in the last couple of days. Must have been a back end thing since the app version is still the same.

You can now add a no motion for X minutes condition for the custom automation creator

I was going to the hamburger menu then rooms and then reordering them by dragging them but it didn’t stick.
So now go to the 3 vertical dots on the right side click reorder, drag them then click done. This seems to work so far.

The change appears to be per device. I changed the room order on one device it did not affect the second device.

And there is a delay for the SHM but im not sure if that was already there in the last version

That’s been there

Shame life360 is not available yet, i prefer to use 360 present detection, that way i dont have to invite the kids into the app to use SHM, as it stands using Connect SHM is just not feasable

Hmm, I retract my earlier comment. It’s a terrible experience on the Gear for me.

Twice now I’ve had to re-select devices on the watch because they’ve disappeared. Now all I see is an icon that’s the same for all devices selected, no name, and just the word “Disconnected”. I think that word is summing up the entire experience with the new Connect app, and now Gear.

EDIT: Updated ST app on Gear, but now it’s worse. Watch locked up, and for the first time ever since I’ve owned the watch, it rebooted on it’s own.

Im currious, if the new app has audio notifications, then what speskers can it pkay those notifications through?

Sonos, Bose or Samsung

Expensive. I hope echo speaks works on the new app soon.

It does with webcore. Only need Classic to install both.

I have it setup in classic but it dosent work in the new app.

So if i install webcore it will work in the new app?

webcore does not work with everything in STSC. for example, it does not work with SHM, presence/location or automations. I know there is one other item it does not control but my brain is blank at the moment. Oh, it is not able to fully control samsung tvs or appliances.

Since webcore pistons are setup outside either app, it “works” with both apps. After it’s installed, you can add access to device via either app.

Serious bug… you cannot edit a device state (switch off to on or light on from off) in a scene or automation. Try creating a scene, add a switch or light (default is off) then edit that to change to on. The UI briefly displays for the state selection but then you are redirected to the new scene or automation page! Version 1.7.27-25

Bug just started occuring where you can’t save scene if it adjusts color temp of bulb
