I’m having a frustrating issue with my Samsung TV (The Frame 2023) and SmartThings. I can see and control my TV perfectly fine from the SmartThings app on my phone.
However, in the SmartThings app on the TV, I cannot see any of my other smart devices. The TV only shows “'nearby devices” (Bluetooth scan). The option to view or switch to my other devices/locations is completely grayed out and unclickable.
What I’ve checked: The TV and phone are on the same Wi-Fi network. Both are logged into the exact same Samsung account. The TV and all other devices are in the same “Location” in the mobile app. Reset Smart hub.
Has anyone experienced this “grayed out” menu on the TV app before? How do I get the TV to actually sync my device list from the cloud? This happened out of nowhere and never had issues before.
Do you have another SmartThings hub? Which one?
Are your smart devices already paired with your SmartThings hub?
What type of devices are these? Zigbee, Z-Wave, WiFi?
Is your Frame TV logged into your SmartThings account? If so, your TV should show the same devices that are in your (Android/IOS) app.
I do not have a Frame Samsung, but my understanding is that they do have a Zigbee radio (my 2024 Samsung has a Zigbee radio, but I have no devices paired with it; all my devices are paired with my V2 (2015) hub but I can see them all in my TV’s SmartThings app. Devices can only be paired with one hub.
To verify if your Frame TV has a Zigbee radio go into settings→support→About The TV and scroll down to see if you can find ‘Zigbee MAC address’.
These are just my thoughts, there are much more expert people on this forum but they will need much more detail about your setup (hubs, devices, etc.) before they can help.
My setup is quite similar to yours. I am using an Aeotec smart hub, to which all of my Zigbee devices are connected. Furthermore, I have some Wi-Fi devices linked through SmartThings services. All of these devices are readily accessible and visible on both my Samsung tablet and phone. However, as of yesterday, I have noticed that none of them are appearing on my television. I should mention that I have not enabled SmartThings as a hub on my TV. I have already attempted to sign out of and then back into my Samsung account on the television, but unfortunately, the issue persists.
Also worth mentioning is that I use a DNS ad blocker on my router, which I thought might cause the issue. However, that has been enabled ever since I got the TV, and I never had any issues before. I temporarily removed it just to see if it was causing the issue, but it wasn’t.
“I should mention that I have not enabled SmartThings as a hub on my TV.“
Same for me. Already having a SmartThings hub, and noting that the TV would not sleep as deeply if the the hub was enabled, I decided against enabling the hub for now. With the hub not enabled, and the devices not in pairing mode, your TV will not discover nearby devices (I believe).
Both my TV and my V2 hub are on the same wired ethernet but I doubt that that is significant.
I assume you have not created a hub group (not sure that is even possible with a TV).
