SmartThings Garage Multipurpose Sensor

I’ve been using the original SmartThings Garage multipurpose sensor for years.

Had some problems recently and now the sensor is not paired.

I changed the batteries and tried to “reset” by holding down the button inside…the light turned green and I held it down til the light went out.

The sensor shows in my devices but it is not responsive.

Any ideas?

what device handler or Edge driver is it using now?

I’ve not changed the handler so original handler or driver.

I’m looking at the graph page:

https://graph-na04-useast2.api.smartthings.com/device/show/aa372729-f69f-498d-a40e-993b5930447a

Where is the listing for the driver?

My Devices > your multipurpose sensor > Device type (if Placeholder it would be an Edge Driver at which point you will need the ST app to determine the Driver)

The device is listed in my SmartThings App, but history is blank.

The temperature displayed is from a few weeks ago.

Where in the app do I identify the driver?

Here is data from the web page graph:

Name SmartSense Multi
Label Garage MULTI
Type SmartSense Garage Door Multi

it is using a device handler. you may want to try an Edge Driver at this point.

I am not certain how to determine if it is using a device handler or not.

the type field shows the correct info. If there had been Placeholder listed… it would be an Edge Driver but since it isn’t…it is a groovy Device Handler that will be phased out within a few weeks. IDE will also be shut down by the end of this year.

You can use ST Edge Driver by enrolling in their beta channel or @Mariano_Colmenarejo Edge Driver that allows you to manage the 3 axis. To sign up for his, click on this link SmartThings. Add a little smartness to your things. and subscribe to his channel and select the Driver from his list. Then remove the multipurpose sensor and add it back by clicking on Add Device > Scan.

After that, you can manage Edge Drivers in the app. Find your Device and click on the 3 dots in the upper right and look for Driver in that pull down menu.

Thank you very much…

Can you recommend which drivers would correspond to the MultiPurpose Sensor?

Note that if you remove the device you will also remove any routines or smart lighting or any other references to that device. So you may want to make screenshots of any of your logic and smart apps that you had it tied to.

If you want to use it as a garage door, the following edge driver might be the easiest way:

I use SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor Mc but I don’t have the original one like you, I have a newer version.

To clarify, I am not using ST to open or shut the door.

I only am notified if the garage door is opening, closing or left open for a period of time.

Hi @Badger51,

for this model PGC313 you need use the smartthings stock beta driver.
There is not garage door option in profile.

Smartthings Beta driver Channel link

Zigbee Contact Mc does not support this model PGC313

Stranger than fiction…

I deleted the old device and added it to Smartthings.

Now it is functioning properly, using previous automations.

However, it is not visible in my list of devices!

Poltergeist?

checked in All Devices and No Room Assigned? Could it have been assigned a different name?
