Same happened to me today. Added a Zooz ZSE41 sensor. Once added, screen filled up with what I later confirmed to be, over 80 devices, all of which were moved to the room with my Hub and all were renamed with the space and the one at the end.
Hi, @cog89
Thank you for your report. I’ll add it to the ticket I have with the engineering team for visibility. For now, there are no updates about this.
Is this problem only with zooz devices? I have 4 new zooz devices that I want to add but don’t want to deal with this issue as it already happened once before when I added a zooz motion sensor. Also, zooz customer service is not particularly helpful with returns etc once the package has been opened. Thanks.
It happend to me when adding a Schlage Model # BE469ZP CEN 622, Z-Wave lock… so not just Zooz. ![]()
This happened to me this evening as well adding a Zooz ZEN71 on/off switch. Although I added an outdoor plug Zooz ZEN05 a few days ago and a smart plug Zooz ZEN04 a few hours after and neither of them did it. I didn’t reorganize things yet so maybe the smart plug would have done it, not sure. Both of those outlet/plugs were Z-Wave Gen 7 devices and the on/off switch is a Gen 8 device. Maybe that’s related?
One other datapoint to add. Child devices don’t get the " 1" treatment. I have some Inovelli White Series switches and the LED on the dimmer shows up as a separate device (sort of like a colored bulb). It didn’t change names, but did move to a same room as the hub.
Most (not all) of my devices got renamed with the " 1" suffix just now.
I removed a HomeSeer WD200 this morning, updated the firmware, and re-added it.
The device is working. Is there an easy way to remove the " 1" suffix? Even using a computer? I’ve got about 50 to update and tapping through to edit their names is tedious.
Looks like it was only my S2 devices that got renamed.
Do you have
Do you have any updates for us on this issue? It’s super frustrating!
I’ve been adding some Jasco & ZooZ Zwave switches to my SmartThings account this past week. I try to add them using S2 security but that seems to work only half of the time.
I recently added 4 switches. On 2 occasions (during the S2 process of adding the device) — I get a popup screen that says Success! and then lists a ton of my other devices. However — those devices listed were added a long time ago and they are now showing in a different room and have been marked as a favorite! I then confirm that those older devices indeed were infact MOVED all to the same room as the device I added (which btw always adds to the same room — SmartThings Misc in my case — for whatever reason). I also confirm that my favorites now has a list of almost every (but not all) of my devices. I then go through the painstaking process of moving, un-favoriting and then re-organize each device in their respective room. Super frustrating.
On the last device add — a number of my old devices now have a “1” added to the end of the device name. So on top of having to move, unfavorite and re-arrange them, I need to also rename them and remove the “1” that was added to it.
I feel like my back-end account is messed up or wonky. I’ve rarely had any luck with ST support. They mostly only care about uninstalling and reinstalling the app which we all know never fixed much.
Anyone have this happen!? What can I do to avoid this in the future?!
Just a couple of the topics discussing the same thing. @JDRoberts Can you move this to one of those?
Done. ![]()
Carry on.
@nayelyz please provide an update. With 100+ devices I can’t be spending hours re-organizing a ton of devices every time I need to add something. This needs to be fixed ASAP!
FYI,
I added 2 Zigbee devices a few days ago and everything stayed as it was. I do have 4 Z-Wave devices sitting here that I’m waiting to add…
I have 2 reports of people experiencing this, and Sharptools was not involved, they added a z-wave device and encountered the issue.
I found this problem this week too.
It renamed all existing plugs and virtual switches when I added some Shelly Z-Wave Plugs (Shelly Qubino Z-Wave Plug - UK – Vesternet), but didn’t happen when I added Sensative Z-Wave Strips (Z-Wave Plus Sensative Strips Guard 800 – Vesternet).
From what I can tell so far, everything is working fine, and no devices were moved to different rooms.
I had this problem in last 2 weeks. Adding a comment to follow
