I would like to use the SmartThings Button as a panic button in my house. How do I make it send an alert to my phone or an email when it is pushed? I looked and searched but could not find a way to do it. Thanks in advance!
Webcore could do it. I have a smartthngs button and just looked, you can have it send an email and push notification when the button is pressed.
You could also write your own smartapp, I dabbled in that when I first started with ST. Just wanted to do a little programming with groovy, it’s not that hard and you can definitely create one to accomplish this. Webcore, however, is much faster and easier.
I just looked in the new app and you can send a push notification if a button is pressed using a custom automation., Didn’t see anything about email though.
Thanks Terminal but the reviews for webcore are not good and I don’t want to do any programming. It would be an easy integration for Samsung and I don’t know why they don’t make it happened. Adding this function to the ST button would make it very useful to many people
I have not seen any bad reviews of Webcore, but okay.
You can send yourself a notification if the ST button is pressed by using the custom automations in the new app. I didn’t look but there will probably be some smartapps already written for the classic app that would do that as well.
Webcore is extremely popular, for good reason. Many people who are not programmers do say that it is too complex for them, and that’s fine. It’s not for everyone. But I haven’t seen any bad reviews, just “not for me“ responses.
I’m not familiar with what’s doable in the new V3 app or with that particular device, but hopefully more people who are familiar with it will chime in.

The webCoRE that I was referring to is an android app on Google Play. It has a 2.6 stars based on 10 reviews. Maybe it’s different from the Webcore that you are referring to.
Yeah, The webcore discussed in this forum is a community-created rules engine, essentially a scripting language for smartthings, which runs in the smartthings cloud. It is not installed from an App Store.
The one on the App Store was a third-party add on designed to integrate android presence with the WebCORE smartapp, but that one no longer appears to be maintained.
Following your advice, the custom automation in the new ST App allows me to push the button to send an alert to my phone. Thanks to all for your help!
