I went through the Smart Home Monitor - Security SmartApp add process and need to test to see if it is working. But the Smart Home Monitor option gives me the Something’s Wrong, we can’t load your screen right now?

Kill the ST app and restart it. It happens sometimes.
I have closed and restarted many times. Are you suggesting I remove the app and reinstall it from the Playstore? And if I do the remove/install will I lose my automation and more?
No you won’t, the automation are stored in the ST cloud. Maybe try restarting your phone before uninstalling it.
