For anyone looking to enable/disable the SmartCam’s motion detection setting from inside SmartThings, check out my new Device Handler. It creates a ST switch that can be paired with a SmartApp (such as CoRE or Smart Lighting) to enable motion detection only when certain modes or routines are triggered.

I believe (though I have not tested this) that you could then leave notifications enabled in the SmartCam app, and just toggle motion detection on and off using ST modes/routines/manually.
