SmartApp Automation Network Server Error Occurred (25 Dec 2018)

“Network or server error occurred. Try again later.” This is the error I receive when trying to run the Lock User Management Automation from my SmartThings app for Android.

Initial setup worked fine. Codes and automation works wonderfully. However, this is the first time I have tried to add another users since my initial setup. Now I am miles away from the hub.

Do I need to be on the same network to program new or manage existing users? This defeats the purpose of remote management. I know some are experiencing the same. Is there a published resolution?

Please advise. Time is of the essence. If user management cannot be accomplished remotely I need to purchase an airline ticket, since I missed Santa’s sleigh.

PS. Merry X-mas!!

Is this the app by @RBoy?
What are you doing when the error occurs?

Hi Tony. Yes it is the RBoy automation. I’m in the Smart thing app/automations. All I do is select the Lock User Management. The I get this…

Looks like the ST mobile server or the mobile app is having an issue connecting to the server. Try to restart your phone, check network connectivity or try to access it via the ST Classic app (the mobile app connects to a different mobile server).

Restarting the phone was the first thing

Pretty sure I’m using the classic (photos), but I get the same type of connection error no matter what mobile app I’m using.

ST Server issues???

Found out the ST classic is the circle not the snowflake. OK. Trying to attach log output from ST IDE when I receive this error within the mobile classic app.

Culprit? Log output:

12:08:26 PM: error physicalgraph.exception.DataCharacterLimitExceededException: Handler data length (598908) cannot be greater than 2500 characters. @line 3395 (startTimer)

Yes, if the list of apps isn’t loading it’s a ST server issue. Should fix itself or you may need to kill and restart the ST app a few times or maybe reboot the phone (assuming that the internet connection is solid)

The log error is very odd, never seen it before. Could be data corruption. Check that you’re on the latest app because the signature and code line doesn’t seem to match the app.

Maybe uninstall and reinstall the app.

There was definitely something (data corruption?) going on in the platform. We’ve seen some issues this morning where settings have randomly changed or gone missing.
