Smart Tags not being detected by my wife's S25 phones, only by others

Hi, I live near the country side Montreal Canada, we have good cellular network and I have 10+ tags on cars, equipment and luggage when travelling.

My wife and I usually travel together therefore all our close tags ping in there location. I Have noted that when my wife goes alone ether with a car for shopping or like this time, on vacation in Europe with a tag in her luggage, we only get a ping when she is parking in public, like Fuel station or restaurants. So when others phones are nearby, it ping in. All our tag ping in with all our other phone (Children’s Samsung), As said the Smart Tags is not being detected by my wife’s S25 phones, only by others bypasses. Is there any setting in the phone that prevents it from connecting?

Have you turned on Location sharing for the tags in the ST Find app?

Some are ON some are OFF it does not seem to make a difference but it is ON but only her phone does not pic up the Tags signals, sorry it is in French

You need to go to the “Partage de la position” tab and make sure that “Share location with members” is enabled for each of the tags.

Thanks for your time Bruce, Isn’t that the option to share with some other person so they can fallow your tag also as some are OFF and I get the Ping anyway as you see most are Off and list is longer

If the tags are registered to your phone and you want the location to be shown on your wife’s phone, you have to turn on Location sharing for Members on each tag.

No I want her phone to pickup and relay the ping from the Smart tag she drives for hours, her phone does not pickup pings, but arrives at a stop for Fuel, restaurent, or enters a city and other phones pick the pings

First pic is from 1 to 3 hours between pings and, second pic is entering the city they are all in 15 minutes.

Were all the tags installed using your phone? If they were, is your wife’s phone logged in to SmartThings in the same SmartThings Location as you? If she is then what does her phone show in the ‘On the go’ room (or any other room you may have moved the tags to)? Can she click into all the tags when they are nearby and have her phone connect to them? Any popup messages when she does?

Away from SmartThings, under ‘Find my mobile’ in the phone settings, is ‘Offline finding’ enabled? That’s what allows Galaxy phones to find ‘lost’ tags. That should only be relevant if your wife’s phone isn’t configured into SmartThings as the tags shouldn’t be ‘lost’ otherwise.

Did you confirm that UWB is enabled on her phone? Also, that ST app has Location and Nearby Devices permissions enabled. And, of course, Bluetooth is enabled on her phone.

Thanks again for your help

All the tags were installed from my phone,

I don’t recall we played or installed with SmartThings, or ‘Find my mobile’ on her phone

But the tag is not lost its just not communication from my wife’s phone

(Did you confirm that UWB is enabled on her phone? Also, that ST app has Location and Nearby Devices permissions enabled. And, of course, Bluetooth is enabled on her phone.)

OK now I think I may get some were Wifi is usually on and Bluetooth is always on but Ill need to verify the rest

Sure you Understand I am currently unable to verify it

The tags expect to be able to communicate over BLE with either your phone or another Galaxy phone configured into the same SmartThings Location. If they haven’t been able to do so for over twenty minutes (or perhaps thirty, you see different periods quoted) then they will consider themselves to be ‘lost’ and start BLE pings in the hope of being detected by other nearby Galaxy devices.

So if SmartThings has not been set up on your wife’s phone then it is just another anonymous Galaxy device. In order to be able to detect and report a nearby ‘lost’ tag it has to have ‘Offline finding’ enabled. So that’s the reasons for the questions.
