Ah yes, I see that info buried in the Find app, so at least the Station and some TVs can help you find a tag you’ve misplaced if they are near one of those devices. Not clear that they can be used to generate notifications when the tag gets near/far from them however. Perhaps I’ll grab a Station during the next Prime days and see what I can do with it and report back.
Oddly, the Find app doesn’t list my tag as a device I can find using Offline finding, only my phone and watch. Perhaps the notion of “offline finding” doesn’t make sense for tags?
I have the following screens. It shows the station hub. On my system, the tag can tell you where it is on the phone and if it has left/arrived from the geo-location of the home, the hub to which it is assigned.
I am a little unclear on what you mean by linked. That said, my tags assign to only one hub or hub group. Essentially, one geo-location. To my knowledge, there is no communication by one hub geo-location and a different hub’s different geo-location which would allow the arrival/departure of a tag in one geo-location to trigger a routine or notice to/through a separate hub’s geo-location.
My available tag features are accessed through the Life, Find menu and the Devices menu. I suspect my options are not unique to my setup or phone. Which feature is not available on your menus? There are some small differences between the original tag (squares) and the newer one (oblong).
For Galaxy Phone users, there is an option to create additional places that are associated with a primary location. Those are called Linked Places and can be used in Routines for member location. Was curious if they also show in “Notify when arriving”.
As I understand it, ‘arriving’ and ‘leaving’ in this context is triggered by the BLE connectivity between a Station hub and a tag. So wherever the hub actually is, it will be considered as being at the geolocation of the ST Location the hub is in.
I don’t know if the actual reported geolocation of a tag is in any way considered as it is with ‘Notify if left behind’. I’ve only just started experimenting with the latter. So far it has failed miserably with a false notification for a tag left behind at home despite specifically excluding that possibility. It would appear that when the phone detected the tag was no longer in range it first spuriously reported the tag geolocation as the same as the phone so when the geolocation was checked it appeared that it was not at home and a notification was sent. So there is a silly bug there.
not quite sure this would suffice my need tho. as the range of BLE is not big enough to give me a fair warning that the bus is coming. but could be useful for pet location or other household items.
I have a V2 hub and a Station. No devices are assigned to the Station. The V2 Hub is the sole geo-location my tags reference. If I add a Linked location, it adds it as a 2nd ST setup with its own devices. It is my understanding that a tag added at one Hub/Station cannot also be managed (known) by a 2nd Hub/Station. At least, I have not seen that in any system discussed here. I know of no way to trigger an alert on the location of a tag, excluding its arrival/departure from its hosting Hub.
I have both tags, Original and Tag +. Their options different in small ways, none relevant to this current discussion.
Tags really aren’t that useful for tracking. Certainly the Tag and Tag+ need to be ‘lost’ for twenty or thirty minutes before they start sending out a beacon and you can’t adjust that. I don’t know if the Tag2 improves on that. It’s all very well being able to find a tag but we are not playing hide and seek and a bit more help not losing it in the first place wouldn’t come amiss.
It does rather look like it has to be Samsung driving this. It ought to be possible to at least notify arrival and departure from one or more geofences in a similar way to SmartThings mobile presence. Then again someone has to provide and pay for the infrastructure to support it.
Maybe setup explains the difference. I have a SSung Galaxy 23+ with UWB. The tags, Tag Original and Tag+, all have current updates as well as the phone. All five (2 Tag+) behave sufficiently the same. They have always been responsive and accurate. They both allow a push refresh to manually update the data without waiting. Which feature(s) are you missing?
Hey @9three apologies for the delay in responding as I was on vacation when you replied!

thanks for the reply, perhaps i mis-worded that question. i dont mean data breach, but rather a security issue, regarding the tags location and my own personal security.
what can sharptools do for me regarding location services for a tag may i ask. thanks
