Smart Lighting routines disappeared (12 March 2023)

Still no updated status let alone a resolution after over 7 hours since the first reports began.

This isn’t a serious IOT hub solution… imagine someone using this for assisting senior homes lol

Along with the additional written content of my support ticket, I even included a link back to this thread so they could see that several individuals are all reporting similar problems…

The smartthings terms of service that everyone agrees to when they first create Their smartthings account has always said that this should never be used for anything critical or where failure might endanger health, safety, or cause financial loss.

I know most people don’t read the fine print, let alone before they buy something, but it is there. This is not intended as a guaranteed service product.

In fact, it also says that they can change anything at any time, even if it causes existing devices/rules to stop working.

It is what it is, and it’s not what it’s not. I know that’s not any comfort on a day like today when a lot of things have broken for people, but there’s a reason this system is so inexpensive. It was never intended as anything more than a convenience.

FWIW

as many people who are active in this forum know, I myself am quadriparetic, so I do understand exactly how important reliable home automation can be. But that’s also why I don’t use smartthings for my mission critical use cases, or even for my ā€œPlan Bā€œ for those cases. I use it strictly for added convenience. But if it glitches, I have other systems in place that probably are still running. So I’m not trying to make light of this issue at all, I’m just saying smartthings is not a good match for something like the primary functions at an assisted living center, and the company says so when you set up your account.

Understood but it could be something time change related that has upset the whole Smart lighting set-up. I’ve seen it before. I’m willing to bet everything starts working again tomorrow. That doesn’t forgive SmartThings’ apparent deafness on this today though.

I’m having the same problem…but support is closed on Sundays.

Add me to the list I just opened a support call also.

Just logged into my.smartthings.com and noticed that under automations it doesn’t list smart lighting I think it should but not sure

Mine totally died at 2am. Guessing the dreaded DLS problems. Now it shows disabled and I’m unable to enable it.

Well daylight savings time started today, coincidence?
none of them are working.

Finally…

Meanwhile DST change could actually be the cause: https://community.smartthings.com/t/smart-lighting-new-plugin-version/251409/179?u=pauly

The UX on this is really, really awful!

And they’re trying to sit this out…

So they are going to sit this out and hope it resolves itself? Hmmm. Remind me to use this at work.
So we can expect to have this problem twice each year.

LOL, what was I saying?

We need a ā€œdon’t likeā€ reaction on forum posts. Can’t believe that

  1. There are still DST/Summer Time issues, and
  2. They’re not going to fix it. It’s not like the US is the only place that screws with time of day twice a year

Also not understanding how an automation that does not reference time of day in any way could be affected by time change!

Oh, you want them to actually address the root cause?

It’s been 10 years now…

@Nezmo

The response from the screenshot is hilariously poor response to a production commercial product.

This feels more like a prototype release for Alpha QA testers

In. Credible. (expletive elided)

At least he Sunshine act will solve all of our problems LMAO, I doubt they can pass it even in the next 10 years.
