Smart Lighting routines disappeared (12 March 2023)

As a software developer, I’d say I’ve seen this before, it’s not good and not proper, but sometimes there’s just not enough power to get to the bottom of some issues.

I’m guessing they still don’t know how to fix this.

Maybe the US congress is monitoring this forum and this will be the impetus for them to permanently implement DST.

Some of my automations stopped working today (mainly ones that uses door or motion sensors as triggers). I did notice the app had an update today, but still doesn’t work after the update.

How could this just be due to DST, when even sensors don’t turn on lights in SmartLighting?

Smartthings
Automate your life 363 days of the year.

If Congress does eventually act it will only, of course, affect the US.

And it will break every device that has built-in DST adjustment without a live Internet connection.

On a small positive note, my Routines (non-SL) triggered at sunset correctly.

And this fiasco finally motivated me to move my Smart lighting automations that triggered lights based on motion over to Routines. I think doing so has let me fix a small annoyance I had with them.

That leaves me with only “mirroring” automations in SL. I can possibly redo the ones involving switches as Routines. But I don’t think there’s a way to cause one or more dimmers to mirror a master dimmer.

Just posted in another thread, basically new app routine’ s turn off feature is imperfect.

EDIT: looks like they nailed it! Works exactly the same as SL!

I just received this response back from SmartThings and it (our issues) will go away tomorrow. It is due to daylight savings time.

Whats weird is all my time constrained Smart lighting stuff works, anything that is not time constrained doesnt. As in open the hall closet should turn on the light, no ‘only at these times’ or these modes. But my lights that have been constrained from sunset to sunrise for example, they do work.

If thats a DST bug…thats like backwards to how my logic would playout in my head. No time constraint shouldn’t hit any time change issue.

I still laugh that every time change since Ive had ST has been bumpy, all but maybe one or two. And Ive had my hub for like 7 years now I think.

“Hey guys! We fixed the DST issue so your time-dependent automations will still fire at the right time after the change! Don’t ask about the rest…”

Working at 12:10 am the next day!

LOL, so true….

Well… It does now seem to be working, so getting to the next day did it.

As far as I know, and despite what it is called on Planet Mobile App, Smart Lighting is a plugin for the mobile apps rather than being a SmartApp. I guess they haven’t thought of anywhere else they could stick it.

For my non-time-dependent automations, I had to add some time restrictions, then go back in and remove the time restrictions, and now they work as expected.

To be fair, most of those devices have an option to disable the auto DST function…

I happened to be up and moving around at midnight, because of dst, and yup right at 0:00 everything went back to normal. Stupid lol

Does anyone remember this happening last year? Or every year before?

First time dst problem.
