Smart Home Monitor LIVE!

Yes, I got a bounce back from a support ticket from a few days back, and then updated them on what I saw here. They do seem to be working on it and were aware of this out of sync issue.

Is there a way to have SHM disarm at a certain time like you could on smart home alarm? Or can you only physically disarm by going into the app?

You can use a routine to arm/disarm

I just moved to Hub 2.0 and trying to reduce the number of 3rd party SmartApps that I’m using. I had previously used Smart Alarm and liked the app, but want to give Smart Home Monitor a try.

One thing that I can’t find in SHM is a way to notify me when the arm state has changed. With SmartAlarm it would send a push and/or text when the alarm was changed between away, stay, or home. But there isn’t a method that I can see within SHM nor is there a built in way to do it with a routine either. Am I missing something obvious?

Another problem with Smart Home Monitor… timing.

My kids do not have smartphone or arrival sensors. Instead we have a z-wave lock. I’m running a SmartApp that runs the ā€œI’m Backā€ routine when it sees a valid code entered in the z-wave lock. This process runs properly and I have the ā€œI’m Backā€ routine set to disarm the security portion of SHM.

However, this process takes a few seconds: Smart App sees the unlock -> Routine Runs -> Security is set to disarm.

But the intrusion alert portion runs right away. So my siren goes off and I get the alerts on my phone.

What I need is for the ā€œintruder alertā€ to wait about 5-10 seconds before going off. There isn’t a built in way to do this that I can see unless I’m missing it. The alternative is to take off the side door as one of the sensors to monitor… I’d prefer not to do that of course, but I also can’t have the alarm going off all the time.

I total agree with this. It would also help elevate some of the false alarms from the lack of accurate presence sensoring. I have had a number of false alarms from my wife because the presence censoring does not work so good. Can’t total blame ST since I am using Life360 but I will say Life360 seems to be better than before. Sorry not the correct place for that discussion. Back on track, it should have been a feature out of the box. Most alarms systems if not all have a window of time for disarming. 30 sec?

As described here, Siren and Lighting alerts are not triggering with intrusion alerts:

I have the exact opposite problem. Every time we change the routine to goodbye both myself and my wife get a notification stating system is in away mode and intrusion zones are armed. We have been using both smart tiles and the smartthings app to change the routines. I would love to be on the disabled list Notification and just see the heads up on my dashboard.

Yeah - I’d love a user-specified trigger delay.

You should send these comments to ST support. I have a couple of issues with SHM that I’ve reported to them:

  1. No way to have a ā€œjust strobeā€ on sirens (useful for right after you set it up so that the inevitable false alarms due to setup mistakes are less painful).

  2. When you hit ā€œdisarmā€ it doesn’t appear to silence the alarms if they are going off! I have to go into the Siren ā€œThingā€ tile and turn it off manually.

While I’m at it… I’d really like a way to have a second instance of SHM. Our house has a separate apartment over the garage and I’d like to have a separate SHM for that.

I realize this might be a pretty big architecture change because the routines seems to be built assuming you only have the one-and-only SHM installed.

Wouldn’t it be easier to have a second hub to isolate control between the two?

Yeah, I thought about that as a good use for my old v1 hub. But at the moment, there’s no wired internet in my garage/apartment but the door and motion sensors (both monoprice) I have up there easily talk to the hub in the main house. For now I’m just using the ā€œNotify Me Whenā€ SmartApp from ST.

Is anyone able to uninstall rogue SHM instances? I wanted to check out the features for the smoke & leak apps in the SHM and now I cannot get rid of them from my dashboard. I contacted the support and this is the response I got:

"There is nothing set up for leaks. I attached an image of your setup so you can see that no leaks monitor is present on your account.

However, oddly enough, this is the case on my phone as well! I have never set a leak monitor but my SmartHome Monitor shows leaks just like yours does. This must be a very small bug only you and I are seeing because I could not replicate on other phones.

Ultimately, I wouldn’t worry about it as it shouldn’t affect anything with your system. I did pass the info along as a bug report to my development, on our behalf

Thank you so much for pointing this out. Please let us know if you run into any other snags or have any other questions."

This is what I have on my dashboard ( note that I have no water or smoke sensors)

Same here, no water or smoke sensors and see them in SHM

@SBDOBRESCU, I had the same issue not too long ago and I had to email support and have them nuke the entire thing and start over.

Thanks, I really don’t want to start over. I’ll wait until they enable the uninstall option.

WOW! I didn’t have to wait long! This has been fixed…I was able to uninstall both the smoke and the leaks today…

Yes, I can uninstall items in the SHM with new Android update today.

be still my heart… time to see what’s changed…

I can certainly see how icons for groups load differently than before, but my biggest complaint is the app 100% always crashing in less than a minute…oh well, I’ll update my ticket with the latest ā€œit’s still brokeā€ message.
