Hello to everyone! I’m a brand new Smartthings user and new to the community. I’ve spent the last few hours looking over the guides and leaning about device handlers.
I recently purchased the Sercomm SW-DWS02N Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor, and after hours of frustration, have learned I need to switch to the “Z-Wave Plus Door/Window Sensor” handler to get the sensors to function. However, I would like the sensors to function as soon as they are paired to the hub (I have another eight sensors to add).
While no one else in the community seems to have used the DWS02N, I have read that people have had similar issues with the Zigby version of the Sercomm sensor. Based on what I have read, I believe that all I need to do to have the sensors recognized is to add a fingerprint into the default handler (I was able to find the manufacturer codes to create the below fingerprint). For some reason I can’t seem to figure out how to pull the full code for the “Z-Wave Plus Door/Window Sensor” handler so that I can copy it.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It only takes 30sec to change the device handler in IDE once device is paired. That’s about 4min for your 8. Seems like an easy fast way to do it. You’ll have to change handlers for a lot of devices when added.
“Just spend the time to change each handler manually” seems like an unusual position to take in a community built on home automation, lol. Kind of like “just get up and turn the lights on yourself.”
