Where did you create the automation? Might be able to add an auto shutoff there.
I just tried this using SmartThings Automation on a āno motionā detected event and used that to turn off the light.
I havenāt found a way to set sensitivity or the length of time before āno motionā will be recognized and that āno motionā detection time is not very repeatable.
Looking at purchasing these bulbs. Any update on the motion sensor portion? Still too sensitive?
No sensitivity settings yet, but I found a workaround .
You can create an automation (not in smart lighting app), setting the motion trigger to a minimum of 1 or 2 seconds. On the action you must set an auto turn off timer.
It has been working pretty well the last weeks.
Which device handler are you using Rafael_Borja?
Also would I be right in assuming you are creating the automation in the New SmartThings app?
The default light bulb with motion sensor.
Hi Dan
I just purchased one of these bulbs in Australia (Bunnings currently selling them out cheaply) - have you have any luck getting anymore function out of the sensor ?? I can get usual on/off functions working okay in new app (v3 hub) but nothing around the sensor as per the rest of this thread. Was hoping there might be an update nearly a year later ??
Thanks
Have you tried changing the type in the IDE to āZigbee dimer with motion sensorā?
Hi Murray, yes I originally bought the same lights from Bunnings. Unfortunately thereās been no update from Sengled. I contacted them 2 weeks ago and it appears motion hasnāt been integrated into ST. I love the Sengled range (I use other lights inside) but this one is a bit of a dud for ST integration. I use the ST Classic app and have programmed some auto turn off automations but itās a bit unreliable. Iām thinking of completely covering the sensor on the light and using a separate ST motion sensor to trigger on/off states.
People have also been asking about adjusting sensitivity of the sensor. Im not techy, but I donāt think this is possible at all?
Just to restate the problem Iām having:
- changed IDE as per above to Zigbee Dimmer with motion sensor
- Dimmer works
- ST doesnāt recognize my lights as motion sensors
- Therefore no automations cannot be programmed to detect motion and/or turn off after no motion
- My lights turn on automatically via the inbuilt motion sensors
- They wonāt turn off (unless I do an automation hack)
Thanks for the reply dan.
Mine behaving the same as yours - I have many other Sengled products and they are great.
I havenāt played with any automations in SmartThings app for turning off if triggered on by motion, but I have for now set up with an automation through sharptools to turn off after 5 minutes if triggered to an on state by its own sensor - it seems to work reliably.
Hopefully the update comes through soon !
Same issue on v2 ST Hub; no motion detection capability even on the āZigBee Dimmer with Motion Sensorā DTH. I ended up removing the motion sensor module completely and filling up the space with hot glue (very easy to do, and very easy to reverse if functionality is implemented).
Your replies from Sengled were more helpful than mineā¦:
āCurrently we do not have a product like this, but I think that sounds like a very useful addition. Iāll put this on our customer wish list for the development team and let them know about it. We may see it in future updates and added functions!ā
@Automated_House you said they added an OCF type to the DTH, all I could see going back in the history of github was the ālightā OCF; did to get a different OCF?
Ditto.
Original thread references model E13-N11WA
Smartthings website has this model listed E13-N11
Same as most here, Iām using v2 hub but us model and lights are model E13-A21, changing the dtf results in contant motion in v2 app and no cloud connection in v3 app.
However modified Rafaelās automation in v3 and this turns lights off on a delay. So can finally power down my sengled hub.
Still would be good if access to motion sensor was availableā¦
I stumbled onto this thread after purchasing this Sengled bulb. Just wanted to report that so far, I donāt have any problems with it, motion detection and all.
Some notes: (I have a v3 SmartThings hub)
- I did disable Zigbee Secure Mode as the instructions stated. I donāt actually know if this was required.
- added it as a āSengled Smart LED ZigBeeā lighting device
- I did need to perform the off/on x10 action to get it to join my ST hub
- After adding, I was able to create Automations based on the motion sensor status
Can i use that motion sensor to trigger other things such as notifications and other lights?
Edit: reread your post, went ahead and ordered 2 for my drive way. Going to turn on when my garage doors open and notify me when motion is detected
How accurate is the motion sensor?
Yes, you can use Automations to trigger any ST action off the motion sensor events. I just tested it to turn on other interior lights and it worked without issues.
Iāve only had the light for 2 days so far, so I canāt really speak too much regarding accuracy. For my purpose (in an exterior fixture mounted about 8 feet high), it works great to trigger on motion in my (fenced-in) back patio so far.
Iām trying. Let me see if the sensibility issue is solved.
Best regards!
Just set these up today. The motion sensor is available and Iāve been able to set up other triggers off it.
Iām not sure how sensitive the motion sensor is, Iāve had to get right up to it for it to detect motion, however, my light is about 10 feet up in the air if that has something do with it. I will try again when itās darker and cooler to see if that makes a difference
If it doesnāt make a difference I will return these to Amazon and purchase a microswitch to use with my dumb motion sensor light
Still having the same issue. Too sensitive and no settings to adjust it
@Rafael_Borja I imagine you had to delete the device from ST app and add it again (eg. flick the switch 10 times)?
@Zevans08 @pdub do you have any screen shots of the device settings so I can cross check what Iām seeing?
Thanks in advance.
