Ring Video Doorbell

Why is there a difference between the US and the UK version?
The only actual difference between the too is the z-wave frequency, which has nothing to do with the Ring anyway (using wifi). So why?

Our release process for devices like this requires that we test locally before enabling it in that region. There are some architectural differences between the regions, so itā€™s important that we get the opportunity to complete our testing before making the integration live.

Additionally, we train our Support team on each new integration that we launch. The UK team operates separately from the US team, so there are often differences in how that training is prepared or received by the agents.

You can adjust the motion sensitivity in the Ring app. You might be able to adjust it enough to ignore the light level change.

Iā€™ve gone into the doorbell motion settings but it just lets me set zones ā€¦ which Iā€™ve done. And itā€™s impossible to set a meaningful zone without including where those lights come on unfortunately.

I believe the motion sensitivity is only available for the pro model.

My ST hub wonā€™t arrive til tomorrow but I am already a ring customer, happy to see this hit just in time.

Iā€™ve got the Ring Pro model.

Oh well then it should be the first thing you see when you click on Motion Settings. Mine looks like this https://goo.gl/photos/GKyjNmLS9XgBDhD46

My CoRE piston is not executing, the condition ā€œFront Door Button #1 pushedā€ is never true.

What I am missing?

Update CoRE - there is a slight problem in the Ring integration (ST is working to fix it). Latest CoRE has a way around the problemā€¦

Let me know if you need a UK testerā€¦

Thanks. In my case, I have a high ranch, so the sprinklers donā€™t even reach. Also, I keep my porch light on at night all the time anyway

My Ring HD will arrive this afternoon. Will put the Ring app on my iPhone, iPad, iMac and a cheap android tablet. I know how to do that. My question: is there a easy way to put the Ring app on my cheap Fire tablet?

Is there an easy way to update CORE without having to remove pistons, etc? Not that I have many but it would save some time and troubleā€¦

you donā€™t have to delete pistons - if you used the github integration, just update from repo, if not, youā€™ll need to copy/paste the code over the existing smartapp and then save and publish.

Thanks! I just updated it and noticed the numbered buttons (#1, #2, #3 and #4) no longer exist but that just the ā€œbuttonā€ attribute exists. However, I canā€™t seem to get the piston to trigger based on the doorbell button being pushed. I tried using both the ā€œisā€ and ā€œchanged toā€ conditions with the state being ā€œpushedā€ (as opposed to ā€œheldā€) but no go. Is there something else Iā€™m missing?

should be ā€œbutton is pushedā€ Got any logs? Did you tap Done on the piston to actually save it?

yea, I made sure the piston was saved. I created a different piston just for the doorbell button to trigger a light. I donā€™t see anything actually happening. Iā€™ll enable debugging and try again.

EDIT: Ugh, nmā€¦ it must have just taken a while to kick into action. The new piston I created specifically for the button press seemed to work. I ended up deleting the original piston I created before updating CORE and am trying to get motion AND button press working in the same piston using the OR condition. Not sure if thatā€™s what was tripping things up earlier but I guess starting from scratch is still a good idea.

Yes. Follow the various instructions out there to load google app store onto your kindle fire and you can download Smartthings.

Thanks, I ended up deleting the original piston I created and started from scratch. It seems to be working now

Hi,

Do you have a timeframe for this? I am working on a workaround but if it is going to be soon, then I wonā€™t bother.

Thanks
