Ring Doorbell Pro live video feed in ST appeared and disappeared

Well, this is certainly new, working perfect for me.

Is this only for the Ring pro? I have the regular Ring door bell and do not see any video…

Same - regular Ring doorbell, and I am not seeing the video feed or other options. Will be pretty (very) bummed if this leaves me out. Did the FB info indicate anything about Ring vs. Ring Pro, etc., models? Anyone w/the standard Ring doorbell seen this working?

I have a Ring and a Ring Pro and the feature is only available for my Ring Pro. This is also the case for telling Alexa to show a live feed onto my FireTV and Echo Shows.

Thanks…if that holds up going forward (improved integration only for the Pro) that will be very unfortunate and disappointing.

No. The updated DTH currently does not expose that capability to SmartThings. It just adds the player which is borderline useless to me.

I think the main reason is the availability of “live view”. Unless this changed, Ring doesn’t allow live view on battery run devices. Since the Ring Pro is wired only, it always offers live view. Probably why it is integrated first.

Ah…my Ring doorbell is connected wired and live view is enabled so maybe at some point.

Mine’s the same… hardwired, live view works in Ring app…

I suppose they limited it by device type and not whether connected with power or battery or whether live view is enabled.

By “device type” I assume you meant which Ring device, and not the DTH, since AFAIK we’re all using the same stock Ring DTH provided by ST.

Yeah, I meant Ring type/model. From the comments here and on FB groups it looks like this is only enabled for Ring Pro. But, since the stream needs to manually be started within the app, there is currently no advantage over using the Ring App. If the ST app could tap into the live view without triggering a recording then it could potentially habe value by integrating a continuous live stream in ActionTiles. But, it looks like that is not going to be possible. So, no real value in the live view within the ST DTH at the moment.

They actually are separate device types

Thanks - did not know that.

Very cool! I was able to change my Ring Doorbell 2’s device type to Ring Doorbell Pro and now I have the live view capability (after starting the live view twice, like everyone has mentioned.)

I need to test to see if Motion Events still work…

[UPDATE] - It appears that motion events do still work!

Thanks @Automated_House for the tip!

Same…though I’m getting the same messed up stream from my standard Ring doorbell that @BBoy486 shows in his screen shot above.

Working here…Probably never use it…

iOS or Android? Looks fine on my iPhone.

Android (S7 Edge). I’ll have to try others - I have an iOS 6P and Nexus 6P I can try.

Nexus 6P is same as Android, connects first try, but green/messed up view

iOS 6P shows a progress spinner when I tap the play button, but just shows blank/black screen, no video.

I have a strong network and can view live ring video from the Ring app w/out issues. But appears I’m special for some reason.
