[REMOVED] Nest Manager 2.0

[NEWS] Nest Automation Update

I just wanted to be forthcoming with news about the upcoming release tomorrow.
I have spent the entire day working on updates to the automations app and in doing so I realized just how inconsistent the apps input variable names were. I figured it’s better to standardize them now rather than later.

So I’m sure you’re asking what does this have to-do with me

After the next update all of your automations will need to be removed and recreated. I know this is an inconvenience but it’s something that needs to happen before the app gets any larger.

####With that said here is what’s coming tomorrow.

  • Select Notification recipients for each automation individually
  • Refactored Mode and Contact logic.
  • Added Switch to remote sensors for evaluation of Rules.

I’ll hold fire until the next release then!

Also, you’ll be glad to know that v2 has sorted out the authentication issue/bug I was having

the amazing part is that is the only part of the app that wasn’t changed

Today I was notified my Nest protect’s haven’t logged an event in 24 hours. My thermostats didn’t have this issue though. When I opened the device, I noticed the same. I hit refresh and it worked. My guess is ST was having scheduling issues again?

very much so… :expressionless: It’s like they rewinded back to last week

Something I’ve noticed. Not sure if this is just because I’m using a UK version, but if I tap on Heat, it sets it to Auto(not technical supported here) and the sets the temperature to - 20 degrees

Can you PM me with the devices page for the thermostat?

Same here. My thermostat had not checked in since last night. Hit the refresh button in the UI and it updated. I also noticed it with the weather. Oh well…

I highly recommend this doesn’t get released until ST platform is stable for a day or so. Otherwise, you will be troubleshooting in a dark room.

There is a toggle under the Manager App > Preferences > Device Customization > Show Away Mode as Auto.

speaking of weather. @desertblade is working wonders on the device

Hi tonesto7… So, I am just wondering what the purpose is for this setting? If I am away, shouldn’t it just act like the nest usually would and stay in either heat or cool? (there is probably some really good help information in the app on this, huh…)

PS… can’t see your picture above since it seems to link to slack.

Technically when you Nest goes away it is in the Auto State… The problem I see now if that I need to modify that function to only be used if the locations supports heat and cool

Ended up contacting support. Support had to esclate.

Sorry your having so many issues. Let us know how it turns :frowning:

Support was able to delete both the thermostat and the smartapp. So its all good now.

@tonesto7 When I setup and automation for presence sensors, after I select mu phones it loads to a blank screen and will not go back into that setting.

thanks I actually had the bug show itself to me yesterday. This will be fixed in today’s update

Ok, so I’m ready to take the plunge and install the Nest Manager 2.0. I’m currently using Nest Direct. What’s the best way to delete Nest Direct and it’s smart apps so that it doesn’t interfere with Nest Manager?
