[RELEASE] Zooz Power Strip VER 2.0

So you’re saying the device is actually sending the reports but they’re not displaying in the right place? Or do you have reports missing altogether and not visible anywhere?

@TheSmartestHouse to me it seems that some outlets were reporting kWh as a single value and some outlets are reporting it as part of a secondary status value. So instead of having a line for W and a line for kWh, the kWH is contained in a secondary status summary style line.

Of course today it has been doing better and its harder to grab an example out of the logs. I have not changed anything over the weekend but it appears to be working back to what it used to be. As an example this is about what my logs data should look like. If you compare this to the similar screenshot in my previous post you’ll see the data I was missing at large intervals. Not all is perfect though, as you can see the 3rd column of klipsch sub should have a reading every hour and it looks like its last report was 3:25AM today.

Short answer, SmartThings sucks…

If you have the power reporting interval and energy reporting interval set to the same number then you should change one of them because SmartThings can’t handle a bunch of reports being sent to it at the same time so it often drops some of them.

I am 100% ok with that answer! Will adjust the intervals and see if it all shapes up! Thank you for the insight and thanks again for all your work!!

@krlaframboise @TheSmartestHouse
I just received today both the Power Strip (firmwareVersion 2.0, as reported by the DTH) and the Double Plug (firmwareVersion: 1.0, as reported by the DTH) and got them installed with the custom DTH (they both needed to be excluded before they would be found).

However, I am having the same problem with both of them: The USB-1 port on both devices is continuously reporting on and off events, whether or not anything is plugged into the USB ports (USB-2 on the power strip is not having this problem)

It’s an issue with those devices…

Try plugging something into the USB port for a couple minutes and then unplug it and see if that stops the reporting.

With the double plug, it seemed to stop while device was plugged in (incidentally, it was off and stayed off while device was drawing power), but events started up again as soon as device was removed.

Is there anyway to disable the usb reporting (that doesn’t appear to work anyway) with configuration?

Same behavior with the power strip.

When a device is connected to usb drawing power, i get no reports and when nothing is connected it reports on and off events repeatedly at a rate of about 40/min. Is this a firmware bug, or did i just happen to get 2 defective devices today?

It’s a firmware issue that only affects some users. You could try factory resetting them to see if that helps.

Zooz is working on a firmware update that limits reporting to 1 report every 30 seconds, but since ST doesn’t support firmware updates that really doesn’t help you.

You should report the problem to Zooz or The Smartest House.

That’s definitely not normal behavior. While we’re going to release a new firmware update, it’s to address the frequent on/off reports when a turned on device is fully charged and goes back to charging after a few seconds when it uses some power already. It will also have an option to disable the USB report. But either way, we haven’t seen the ports reporting on/off events with nothing plugged into them before. If you get in touch with our support, we’ll be happy to troubleshoot this in detail and get to the bottom of the problem for you.

Ok, Thanks. I submitted the “contact us” form on the site last night after Kevin’s last message, so am just waiting to hear back.

Do we have local support yet?

Not yet… The main bug with multi-channel control was addressed a few weeks ago on SmartThings so we hope we’ll see official integration soon but don’t have a fixed date as of today. We’ll keep you posted!

What steps are required for official integration?

This is a good question for the SmartThings team, unfortunately, we’re not authorized to discuss the details of the certification process publicly.

I just received one of the 2.0 power strips, added the DTHs to the IDE and included the device. I ended up with duplicate individual outlets. They even share the device ID too. Did something go wrong at inclusion? Is it ok to just delete one of the duplicates for each channel from the IDE?

neat. Do they all work to turn the outlets on and off?

Yes. If I turn on the one for CH1 the status updates for both of the CH1 devices.

Sounds like something went wrong during inclusion…

The cleanest solution would be to remove the strip and add it again or delete all 10 children and then when you save the settings it will recreate the outlets.
