[RELEASE] Zooz Double Plug

Thanks for the info, I think that’s the first time it’s been reported.

Things keep changing with the new mobile app so its not worth troubleshooting until the new documentation is released, but which app, iOS or Android?

Android, agree with holding off @ the present time.

When I put the new app on this tablet I will post some screenshots if it is of any value.

I am unable to use any automations for the left or right plug on the new App. I keep getting “A network or server error occurred. Try again later.”

I am trying to set an automation that will turn on the right plug 1 minute after the left plug turns on. I am using it for my reef aquarium, and would like the skimmer to turn on 1 minute after the return pump comes on.

Can someone try this on their end to see if they can use an automation between the left and right outlets?

I also did not find a smartapp that I could use to accomplish this (does anyone know of one?)

I tried again, and the only trigger switch that I was able to use is the “whole double plug”. I was not able to use the right or left side as the trigger switch in the automation.

Probably from the current outage
https://status.smartthings.com/

I saw that notice, but I was unable to create the automation before the outage, and even now after the outage.

Can someone try making an automation in the new app using the left or right outlet as the trigger?

Are you able to manually control the left and right plug? When I first set mine up I ran into an issue where if I renamed the left and right plug they were no longer controllable and I could only control the whole plug device.

If you rename them in the app you can’t control them. I ran into that as well. I fixed it by renaming it again in the ide.

Now I can control them.

I wasn’t able to create the automation before I changed the name the first time, while the name was broken, and even after I fixed the name.

Are you referring to the new mobile app?

When you rename the device from the new app and click save you will get “A network or server error occurred. Try again again later” message. The name change goes through but you will be unable to control the device afterwards from the new or classic app.

On the new app, when you click the device from the home screen to go into the details all of the images have a cloud with a line through it.

From the home screen if you click the power button in the top right of the icon nothing happens.

If you open the classic app the renamed device will not be listed. Instead it will say “Tiles Missing” under the my home > things section.

You can fix this by going into the IDE and changing the name there. You will also need to update the “type” from “placeholder” to “Zooz Double Plug Outlet”.

No matter what I do, I can never create an automation using the right or left outlet as the trigger.

Can someone try this?

I control mine through Webcore. Washing machine on left, dryer on right.

ST has mentioned that parent/child devices are implemented differently for the new mobile app and DTH will need to be refactored to work properly.

Once ST releases the documentation for the new mobile app I’ll make sure my popular DTHs work as expected, but in the meantime I’m not wasting time troubleshooting issues in the new mobile app.

If you open the left or right outlet in the classic mobile app and the on/off state changes when it’s turned on or off then the DTH is creating the events and the device should be able to be used as a trigger in all SmartApps that support switches as a trigger.

Shortly after you posted that ST posted another incident report so are you sure you weren’t testing it during an outage again?

Thanks for that tip. I just took some time to install and learn how to use webcore. I was able to use that to create the rule to turn on my right outlet (skimmer) 60 seconds after the left outlet (return pump) comes on. I was unaware of Webcore and it looks really powerful! Thanks for that tip!

Thanks for your reply and for creating the DTH. Yes, it is updating in the apps (both classic and new). I have followed the webcore work around for creating the automation I needed. I wasn’t testing during the ST outage. The name change on the new App will cause the device to become unusable in both apps. You can try that and you will see the same results that I had. For now I will use the IDE to rename the devices.

Looking forward to your updated DTH when ST releases the documentation.

Kevin,

Quick perusal of the Zen25 threads and could not locate what I have recently experienced.

Couple year smarting user, no issues the past year. But I pulled a bone head move during the migration to the new app and ended up starting from scratch. Deleting the classic app and starting from ground zero with the new app.

Actually got more than a dozen devices added back to my version 3 hub and when attempting to pair the zen25s, I can successfully pair the main device, but over multiple attempts with exclusions, resets I am unable to get the 2 child controls for each outlet.

I will continue on but will need to revisit these zen25s later.

Just thought I’d share my experience

The handlers for the devices were recently updated to accommodate changes in the new platform, do you have the latest handlers installed for the Double Plug?

Thanks again, currently blocked by "access denied " when I attempt to modify any device handler in my IDE. I have a help ticket out on that issue (4 different browsers, incognito etc same result ).

My intuition is it’s the device handler I am using. Probably at least a yr old.

Unfortunately after updating the handler the child devices need to be re-created.

You can either manually delete both child devices and then save the settings screen in the parent or remove the parent device and join it again.

Thanks kevin. I am restarting from scratch due to few issues (the biggest was self inflicted ) encountered with the migration to the new app .

Now I am waiting on Samsung support as I am currently denied access to the device handlers .

Zooz Double Plug v1.3

I just released a new version that creates a child device for the USB port so it can be used in Automations.

To use this functionality you’ll need to install the Child USB Port DTH, delete the existing device for the USB Port, and change one of the device’s settings which will force it to re-create the usb port device using the new handler.

You can’t just open the existing child USB Port device and change its “Type” field because the new version doesn’t create the USB Port the same way as the old version.
