I am new to Smartthings and have been lurking in these forums for a little while, but I recently came across an issue that I’m hoping someone can help me out with. I have an Osram Lightify RGBW light bulb about 35-40’ away from my hub and through maybe 2 walls. When I am in the Smartthings app under Things and tap to either turn it off or turn it on, it turns on or off, but then gets stuck in reporting its state as either “Turning On” or “Turning Off”. It is not changing from “Turning On” to “On” or “Turning Off” to “Off”. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be going on and possibly a way to fix it?
It doesn’t seem like it would be a range issue given that it executes the command, but doesn’t correctly report it’s state, but I could be wrong (it’s been known to happen). I have an Osram Lightify RGBW bulb between it and the hub. If it is a range issue would the bulb in between act as a repeater?
Thank you so much, in advance, for any assistance you can provide.
EDIT: I just looked on the IDE and the bulb shows to be OFFLINE. Odd, this is obviously part of the problem. Still unsure why it would report like this.
Sounds like it is not reporting its state back to hub properly. That is why app is showing that the action is still in process. If you have a switch on the lights, turn them off for a minute and then turn them back on. That will force them to reestablish the connection to the hub. If that does not fix the issue reset the bulbs ( 5 cycles of 5 seconds off, 5 seconds on ) then wait 10 seconds for the lights to go through the rainbow. Then power them off, put ST searching for new devices, then turn them back on. They will go through the rainbow and then flash once ST finds them. ST will not show that it found any " new devices", since they are not new.
Back out of the searching in the app. Go to the lights in things, or whatever room you have them listed in. Then trigger them on/off a couple times and see if it has fixed the problem.
Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate it. I have been reading, and I am definitely going to give that reset a shot. It’s frustrating, but I didn’t decide to get into this home automation stuff because it was easy, I suppose. I’m thinking I may end up needing the Osram Hub/Gateway to update the bulb firmware. I was hoping to get away with not having it. I’ll try the reset first though. Thanks again!
I have the Osram RGBW 5/6" can lights, and they do require a powercycle about once a month or so to wake them up, get them back in line. The Osram A19 white were such a PIA ( they were constantly hanging up or dropping off the mesh, Screwing up the other ZigBee devices in the same room) that I gave up and replaced them with Hues. Gardenspots are hit or miss. Not as reliable as the RGBW cans, but a lot better than the A19s. About once a week I have 1 of the 6 sets that needs a powercycle to get it back in line.
That sounds discouraging ha. I have two of the A19 RGBW. Only one is having the issue thus far. The Osram bulbs were more economical, but maybe there was a reason for that.
Also something that may have caused the issue. Several times I had to cut the power at the breaker, as I was installing new switches for other lights. Perhaps this caused the issue, and a reset will help.
