(Pre-Subcategory creation) Deals/Sales/Coupons/Pricing

Man I wish someone had wall switches cheap right now. I tried Lowes but they called to say they are nonstock after I ordered them. I need 18

Did anyone know that Walmart has a random bunch of smart home stuff in stock?

I happened to be in there for blizzard supplies and was surprised to see a weird variety of Wink and Hue stuff. Not saying any of it was a particularly good deal, but WM has sales all the time, right?

In other news, though it isn’t ST compatible (I think) Amazon has the August Smart Lock as a Deal of the Day today. $149

While I don’t think anyone has fallen foul of this yet, just wanted to flag it up here just in case. This was just posted in the Wink User Trading and Sale post, so be warned people!

[quote]When you guys are in a frenzy snapping up all those clearance deals at HD, Lowe’s, etc, pay extra attention to the packaging. I recently purchased some last gen Iris GE dimmers from a fellow here and one of them was a very clever switch-a-roo. I’m not blaming him as the fake was also in his posted picture. He probably didn’t check them when he grabbed them from Lowes’. I’m hopeful that we can work something out.

Meanwhile, here are some pictures to help you guys keep a lookout for fakes.
The moment I opened the box I knew one of them looked wrong. Notice the lack of LED and air gap switch. I checked all the labeling and everything matched up. On the flip side, the differences are a lot more obvious. However, under a cursory inspection, the packaging seems legit. It’s not until I noticed some clear packing tape along the corners did I look into it more. The circled area is the inside edge of the blister pack. Someone had used a very sharp xacto to cut a very straight line across the top and swapped out the zwave dimmer and replaced it with a dumb one. Then they carefully taped it back together and presumably returned it to Lowes.

So the next time you’re at at store and see HA items at a great price, make sure you check everything. Even if the packaging LOOKS unopened, it may very well be opened. Don’t fall victim to this scam.

Be careful guys!

Yeah I don’t think anyone would miss it if you were casually looking at the back, they are so different, just worried about those that are snapping them up in bundles, might not notice them in among a group of them.

wow someone was brave doing that.

That happened at one of my local Lowes - It’s cut open, re-taped, and has a regular cheap switch in it. It’s still there. Next time I’m there I’ll tell them they got ripped off if it is still there.

The motion sensor in the HD gocontrol kits is a Linear model Wapirz-1. When you open one up it is identical to the Monoprice ZP3102us. Both boards have a label:
ZF4-902L
ZW3-PIC-
TEMP-PIR1

and don’t forget that the contact sensors in that kit easily convert to leak/moisture sensors

…and even though they weren’t pictured or listed as FI9821P V2 units, I did indeed get V2 units… and 1 day shipping from Amazon…I think I know what I will be doing this weekend!

Thanks @vseven for the info. I’ve been waiting for a decent deal on motion sensors.

Monoprice has other z-wave products currently on sale too. I picked up some more single relay switches on sale plus the FRI20 coupon.

I am RIGHT there with you, basement remodel in the works. Let me know if you find anything and I’ll do the same. What switches are you thinking about?

Harmony is on sale at BB again, $69.99.

Harmony is also on sale on best buys eBay site too. I went in store and they did a price match for me as it was listed as $115 there.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but this doesn’t integrate with ST right? I believe it’s the harmony home control, not smart control, that allows integration with HA products.

Its the hub that allows the HA integration. However Home control has 4 buttons on the remote that let you interact with 8 things independent of Activities simply by pressing/holding them. SmartControl lacks the buttons but using the hub, allow you to integrate Harmony Activities and SmartThings which is of course also an option with Home Control.

Yeah, I missed the white harmony home control clearance at Best Buy

As @JDRoberts has pointed out before, however, refurbished harmony home controls can usually be found on ebay for around $80.

I see. So the only difference between Harmony home control and smart control is the remote? The hub is the same and can integrate with ST for both?
