Hi New user so not sure if this is at correct part of forum.
I have recently installed several Samsung and Samsung partner devices onto my Smartthings app (ios version)
I have an oven NV7B5750TAK which appears to have correctly registered in the app, but it does not provide any power usage information . The Fridge and Freezer both work well. Several external devices have recorded (not all) but my main concern is the oven
Is there anything in particular I need to configure to have daily usage (and therefore cost) available in the app.
The electricity is on a smart meter which is reporting hourly usage well via its native app
Responding directly since have problem logging in.
The problem is not solved, I suspect the reason is that the Samsung oven is not as smart as I hoped it would be and is not supplying the raw data.
The fridge/ Freezer and several other smart devices are registering usage - just not the oven.
This renders the device energy usage and house analysis useless since it is not recording a key user of electricity ( the oven) so percentages are all incorrectly stated. The app must therefore be considered inadequate.
You may be interested in IVIE app (App store)
If your smart meter is in UK you are likely using data from Chameleon - which is probably where your supplier gets raw meter data
It has a daily record function but also “monthly oversight”, which records its analysis of how electric and gas are used.
Again there are no explanation or configuruation available for the allocations - despite coorespondance with IVIE. But cooking ( the oven) is classified but I dont know if this is a compound figure eg oven and microwave - both samsung - but its there.
Again interested if you can get into the algorithms that assign usage to each heading
I am located in Germany and I use poweropti by Powerfox as a SmartEnergy Meter. Not sure if this works outside GSA Countries though.
And it even used to work as Energymeter within the Smartthings App until a few month ago. Now it only shows one value within 24hours which is stupid of course. Seems to be limited by ST now, because it still runs perfectly via Homeassistant.
Really do not understand the strategy by Samsung, if there is any. They randomly allow their own home appliances to show values and even make it worse with others. I know as a matter of fact, that both their own outlets did support and showed all the data nessessary to use with their energy dashboard as also an samsung air purifier. This device did even show its own power consumption within its own tile a while back. Now it does not anymore!
I let you know if I get an answer from support.
Cheers!
Hi. The app version 1.21.7 has recently installed.
Im not sure if the option is new but if you click on the energy tile you see the analysis, but top right is a three dot menu.
Tap on this and the menu includes view supported devices
Tap on this and you see 2 tabs - supported devices and unsupported devices.
If I tap on unsupported devices I can see my oven.
So my original theory applies - the oven does not supply the raw data for energy monitoring despite being fully controllable within the app.
Dont know if this works for you but if it does you will at least have a clear indication from Samsung your device(s) are unsupported that you can challenge with the support team
