OSRAM SYLVANIA 73743 zigbee button stopped working

My Osram Sylvania 73743 zigbee buttons were working fine with the stock SmartThings zigbee button edge driver until it was updated 6/6/23. Now they do not work at all.

Hi @Jeff_H

Can you share with us the driver logs to investigate? and also enable support access
Steps:

  • Open the ST CLI
  • Enter the command smartthings edge:drivers:logcat IdDriver
  • Enter the Hub IP
    • You can get your Hub IP on this page IDE
    • First, you need to do login
    • Click on My Locations
    • Click on your location
    • Click on the hub
    • See the IP Address
  • Now you must be available to see the logs

Enable support access to your account:

  1. Go to the SmartThings Web (my.smartthings.com)
  2. Log in to your Samsung Account
  3. Select Menu (⋮) and choose Settings
  4. Toggle on Account Data Access
  5. Select the time period and confirm - In this step, please select “Until turned off”, once the team finishes, we’ll let you know so you can disable it again.

Hi
I sent you a direct message,
Thank you

I deleted my buttons, deleted the driver, and re-paired the buttons and let it find the driver again, and now they work fine again. All good now.

Am I given to understand you can get the 73743 to work with SmartThings Edge?
Could you tell me which driver?
Since migrating from the DTH to Edge, my 73743 has steadfastly refused to recognise button presses. It’ll report the remaining battery but nothing else…

I deleted them both completely from SmartThings, (I have 2) then deleted the zigbee button driver from my hub they were using.

Then re-paired them and let SmartThings automatically re-download stock zigbee button driver onto my hub and they both work fine now with the stock zigbee button driver.

Interesting. Your mileage varies compared to mine…
I removed the device and deleted the driver while I was at work, have just returned home to add it again and I get the same response: Battery is reported but buttons are inert.
I am interested that you saw the effect on June 23. My driver is the “SmartThings driver for Zigbee button devices”, Version "2023-06-13T18:57:12.589108508

Hi Alex.
My driver shows as 2023-06-13T18:57:12.589108508 same as you.

Jeff

There are three places on the driver screen to set up actions, Button, Button 1, and Button 2.
I had no luck getting “Button” to do anything.
I set “Button 1” to turn off or on one zwave switch and “Button 2” to turn off or on a second zwave switch.
But I left “Button” alone.

Yes, I have tried the same. I never used ‘Button’.
I expected to see the ‘Button 1’ and ‘Button 2’ react in the tile in the app, but they do nothing.
I associate the ‘press’ function for both numbered buttons with a lamp to turn on and off (one action per button), but the lamp does not react.
I keep wondering if it’s some sort of RF thing, but the device is added extremely easily, so communication can’t be the issue.
As Alice would have noted (especially on the grammatical incorrectness), “Curiouser and curiouser…”

Returning to this thread and replying to Alejandro…
Jeff and I took the conversation to one side to exchange information and he helped point me to some diagnostics.
Jeff’s switches are made by ‘CentraLite’, whereas mine says ‘Osram’.
I don’t know why this would be significant, but our products seems to be an the same firmware and setup similarly in every other case.

I have tried associating the button presses with other activities and moving the button closer to my hub but in every case, the tile reports the battery percentage and does nothing else. Presses to the buttons effect no response in the tile or to any associated automations or devices.

Hi @alex.j.ogle please can you enable the support access to check that?

I have successfully completed those steps @AlejandroPadilla

Apropos of nothing, I decided to pair this device with my hub again and try it.
It’s now working.
Don’t know what happened but glad it’s functional again.
