Thanks for the heads up! One of the conversions was incorrect. Should be fixed now.
Try grabbing the new code. Another enhancement I did is the new color picker looks to have two white presets right above the check mark. I made it so the top yellow-ish one will trigger 2700k and the bottom one will trigger 3500k. Are those presets there on Android?
Thanks Guy! I had trouble with the arc slider in the main tile acting weird, so I decided to remove it and put the color temp slider below. How does this look?
The top slider is dim level. To the right is the current color. The lower slider is for color temperature and the value to the right shows that value. Below is the color mode (White or Color) and the Refresh button. The color mode tells you what light the bulb will produce when turned on. If it’s White, then you’ll get the color temp. If it’s Color, you’ll get the color. In my case, Lawn Green. Of course, when you turn on the main tile will also display the actual color of the bulb; but this lets you know before hand.
That actually looks better the arc control is a bit fiddly on the iPhone - one other thing I have noticed is that when the app pools for a refresh it returns the wrong colour (e.g. the light is showing warm white, when the app reports orchid purple) - is this an OSRAM issue do you think?
Ok, I updated the code GitHub to match the style above. I also fixed a couple of issues with status after the refresh() is hit. Hopefully this performs as expected, but please report back any feedback here.
@Guy_Mayhew it’s not an Osram issue. It might have been a bug in the code. The color name (where my picture says Lawn Green) is based on 100% saturation and it will always list a color. If the bulb is in White mode, then that color was the last color sent to the bulb; but the the main tile should display “White”.
Thanks for that! Still having problems but trying to work out if it’s the bulb or not.
Just a heads up for UK peeps, Amazon is doing a 4 for 3 on lighting starting today. Promotion only applies to Amazon sold lighting and includes this Osram lightify bulb…
Yeah, I can’t find it now either?! Google has one hit with mention of the offer within the last 24 hours but the cached version doesn’t show it either…
Looks like they may have pulled the promotion, maybe due to technical difficulties as I remember it wasn’t automatically applying the discount for my order this morning around 2am. I had to chat with customer support and they manually applied discount. Here’s a screenshot of my order:
And here’s part of the chat transcript:
02:03 AM BST Amazon: Thank you for providing the order number.
May I know which promotion have to tried to apply?
02:03 AM BST Mr M : “Get 4 items for the price of 3, in Lighting”
02:04 AM BST Amazon: Thank you for confirming. Please give me 2 minutes while I check this for you.
02:04 AM BST Mr M : thanks!
02:08 AM BST Amazon: Its taking longer than expected.
Please give me 2 more minutes of time.
02:08 AM BST Mr M : ok
02:10 AM BST Amazon: Thank you for staying connected.
I have updated the price for the order.
The new order total is 55.20 GBP.
02:10 AM BST Mr M : thank you!
02:11 AM BST Mr M : I know the offer is only one per customer, but will it automatically work for other people?
02:12 AM BST Amazon: I see there’s some issue with the promotion.
I have alerted the respective team.
They’re working on this to get this sorted.
02:13 AM BST Mr M : thanks!
02:13 AM BST Amazon: You’re welcome. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
02:13 AM BST Mr M : no, that’s all for today
Thanks for your help!
02:13 AM BST Amazon: Thank you for contacting Amazon. Have a nice day.
Please click the “End Chat” to close this window. You’ll then be asked to take a quick survey where you can give feedback on the chat service you received today.
I remember the offer started today 19th Oct and ends on the 1st November. Might be worth contacting Amazon customer service to see if the offer will be reinstated, esp if it were only due to technical difficulties?
amazing - thanks for the extra detail @ma10 - will try a live chat later today if its not back up and running! so annoying replacing all my LED bulbs that are less than 2 years old… but i want smart LED’s haha! Here’s me thinking LED’s would save me money really need to swap the living room light fixtures as 9 bulbs is getting expensive to keep replacing!
I have 2 of these rgbw bulbs, seem to work OK. I have tried both the default device type and the one made by @Sticks18 and I like the smoother transitions and the tile layout better (I still have a few issues with it getting confused as to what mode it should be in) but for some reason it doesn’t work with the “Color Coordinator” smartapp which I wanted to use to effectively “group” the two bulbs.
I tried to use the promo, it didn’t work so live chatted with Amazon. They said the promo is set up to apply to four different items, not 4x the same thing. They did apply it to my order “as an exception” because the promo terms aren’t clear.
Hi @Kriskit - I am using these bulbs with colour coodrdinator just fine - i even have a Raspberry pi running hyperion that plays nicely in the group so i can set all my smart RGB leds’ the same colour at the same time. Are you setting just one bulb as the master and then only the other bulb in the ‘follow the master’ section?
@john-paulsmith - That link you posted gives me a 404 but thanks for confirming that the offer does actually exists!
Anyway, yeah, I was worried that they would refuse 4 of the same, but their terms are generic and doesn’t explicitly exclude us from doing so. Luckily, I didn’t have to explain this when I contacted them!
@adgwill, no worries! Similar story for me but I can’t replace my living room LED bulbs as we have a very high ceiling and have to keep using high powered LED bulbs to provide decent lighting. However, these should be good enough for the smaller rooms.
@kriskit, yeah, I’m also having the problem with them getting confused what mode they are in too!
Pretty confident I will be able to get this deal but what’s the ‘white’ replication like on these? Probably a silly question. But because of this offer I quite like the idea of getting the RGB lights but I’m not sure whether I’d want different colours on all the time.
They are tunable white in addition to the fancy rgb stuff - so offer a really wide range of whites from warm white (2000k) up to cool white (6500k). I have mine at 2700k which is a direct replacement from the LED bulbs i had previously. If you scroll back up to post 26ish there are some pictures and a video from @Guy_Mayhew
