I couldn’t resist (and it seems they fixed the offer now to just work with 4 x same bulb)… and somehow the gardenspot rgb kit slipped into my basket Not many pictures of real users with these so bit of a gamble but saves me bodging something together with a rpi & ws2801’s (although granted the pi could do more for me… i just dont have the time at the minute).
Im hoping to set the garden lights colour based on the temp outside - will post back some pictures once arrived if anyone is interested.
My Amazon “promotion” order arrived yesterday and I installed the bulbs late last night while the missus wasn’t looking! And after fixing my zigbee (I think!) and thanks to @Sticks18’s hard work, practically all my rooms have some sort of smart lighting now.
Also, since Amazon had to manually apply a discount for my order, it thinks I haven’t participated in the promotion yet?!
Now I’m wondering what to do with the physical wall switches: add z-wave relays, wire them up permanently with a blanking plate, or leave them and buy a few z-wave remotes e.g.
The above remote is mentioned in the sticky “VFAQ: Lighting Control Options for UK SmartThings” and the community has been working on getting it fully working with ST. Incidentally, this remote is also part of Amazon’s current 4for3 promotion too…
I’ve got my bulbs sitting beside me ready to test tonight when I get home from work. Quick question though… Is there any sort of guide as to how to use @Sticks18’s code to link up SmartThings?
I’m very new to all of this but I’ve currently set up a new ‘Device Type’ using @Stick18’s code - is that it? Do I then connect my device like usual?
I never came back to also thank you for the further edits you made with @Guy_Mayhew - i have only just gotten round to updating my devices to the latest version and it looks really nice! Shame the Android framework isnt as ‘pretty’ as the iOS one yet! (ugly sliders/background colour & font!)
Would commenting out the ‘white’ functions be enough to enable this UI to work for the RBG Garden Spots? I just picked a set up and am using the device type in your github but it would be nice to be consistent with ui / colour pickers etc
You could do that. You would want to comment out the capability for color temperature, the custom attribute, etc; but because of it’s integration with the main tile it might be too embedded to easily comment out and retain functionality.
It might actually be easier to modify the RGB GardenSpot device to use the new UI. Maybe tomorrow or Sunday (US EST) I would have time to make that change.
How do you like the Gardenspot? I’ve been eyeing them up for a while, but never pulled the trigger. How much distance is there from plug to first light?
Just wanted to mention some good news about these bulbs. In the main Osram Lightify thread, someone got a response from Osram confirming that these light bulbs supposedly do act as generic zigbee repeaters:
The A19 RGB bulb doesn’t seem to have been made available in the US yet. The US Osram Lightify page doesn’t even list it. I submitted the question through their contact form.
I updated the Gardenspot code on my GitHub to use the same style UI. Without Color Temp features, the bottom portion had to be reworked, so let me know if the layout doesn’t make sense.
Where did you pick up your ES to BC adapters from? I searched everywhere and ended up getting some fairly obvious ‘black’ ones that don’t look great in certain light fittings (they also weren’t particularly cheap!). I have seen IKEA sell some white ones but could do without a trip there for a £1 pack of 2 adapters http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90295615/
I looked for ages on amazon and couldn’t find any that were kite marked or acknowledged British standard - Normally i wouldn’t care but i felt more inclined to be bothered given these are 16 - 20 quid a bulb lol.
The new gardenspot code for the UI worked a treat @sticks18. It does still (as did the old UI) go red whenever white is initially selected though (the colour name tile even reports it as red at this point)…If i then hit refresh in the UI the LED’s change to white although the UI still says red.
The background colour of the multitile doesn’t reliably change colour to match the colour value of the LED’s although this is a none issue for me tbh as i sometimes find the coloured background makes the text hard to read.
In the rest of the space on the screen i will probably try and add some quick preset buttons (similar to the first ‘default white’ button on the normal bulbs) as it seems a shame to waste the space
Regarding the bulbs themselves, i will open a new thread with some thoughts / pictures / lengths of cable etc as i don’t think many people have them and this threads title is specific to the E27 10w.
I’m having a couple of issues; I’m not sure if you or @Guy_Mayhew can help (I’m new to this!).
When I have the bulb set to a warm white, and switch it off and then on again, it comes on warm white but the device shows it as Red, and this is what I see in the Live Logging. After a while I can refresh and it goes to warm white in the app. All the while, the colour of the actual bulb is white. Also, if I turn the white temperate all the way down, the slider locks and I can’t drag it again unless I go back tot eh colour picker and choose the warm white preset. I’m using iOS, if that makes a difference.
I’m not sure if this is related to the first issue, but I’m seeing an error pop up on my live log whenever I use @Mike_Maxwell superState SmartApp to set colour (pasted below).
I’m not sure if it is related to the problem I am having with the app and OSRAM bulbs where colour isn’t returning to the ‘snapped’ state, but it looks like a call is being made in the Device Type to a method which doesn’t exist. Maybe I’ve done something wrong.

Hi Giles, looks like you found a couple of bugs in the code. I didn’t realize that zigbeeSetLevel() was being called. Someone else notices this and reported it. The on() issue for warm white is because I just forgot to check for white.
Neither one should affect color using the Superstate app. Only the dim level should be off. I’ll try to make an update soon and let this thread know.
Update: These changes were made as well as a fix for the main color tile when turning on and the previous color was White. Grab the updated code from GitHub.
