Orbit Sprinkler Timer (Iris)

Hi,

Do you have any recommendation for a timer/scheduler that works with this DTH? One that also works with a moisture sensor (Spruce) would also be great

Cheers

Continuing the discussion from Orbit Sprinkler Timer (Iris):

Hi Eric, I installed webcore and tried to use that to activate the orbit hose controller. No luck but I learned a lotā€¦ program runs fine, just seems the device does nothing. ā€¦ tried using on and open.

simple code, set a time, set condition to open.

Any ideas?
Thank you
Scott

Iā€™m using the runfor() command with no problems. For example, runfor(45) to open the valve for 45 minutes.

Hi Yes I did see that in the thread and tried it and still no response from the device.

Perhaps i will try a uninstall/reinstall

Thank you
Scott

Ok got her to work. here is what seemed to make it happen.

Installed the device on smartthings classic not v3. So perhaps it is important to add using SM classic.

Now works ! b

i have connected my orbit 12 station (model 27396) sprinkler controller to smartthings and dont know where to go from there. any codes or direction will be appreciated

First off, thank you for creating this, exactly what Iā€™ve been looking for. That said, Iā€™ve created the device handler and manually created a device, but I havenā€™t found anywhere that I would put in the login information to orbitā€™s website. Did I miss something? I even looked through the code and donā€™t see where to add login information. Settings on the device donā€™t exist and I donā€™t see any code for a smartapp to do this. What am I missing?

Thanks!

I think this is only for the HT8-ZB Orbitz hose that worked with Iris hub. There is no login or anything as the DTH works through the Zigbee hub.

Not sure about anyone else, my ST device control just stopped working yesterday. I have lost all control over it and not sure if it is the device itself or smartthings update. The valve seems to work manually but none of the ST functions work anymore and just shows ā€œclosedā€.

Anyone out there still using this and can comment? Thanks!

@joecwong

I think they are working. I am not at home and they are just sitting on a table and not connected to water.

But in response to your question I turned one on and it shows on and it is counting down from 10 minutes.

Thanks. I got it working for a week then the whole thing died.
Trying to find a replacement (same, different brand, newer). I think this one is discontinued with Iris. Any suggestions from the group?

Iā€™m using the DTH for the Orbit/Iris hose timer. Iā€™m able to connect and see a orbit-valve on ST on my iphone but there arenā€™t any controls. Am i doing something wrong?

Hi @Bill , youā€™ve replied to a post thatā€™s two years old. To use this device in ST, set the Type field to Zigbee Switch. Thatā€™s the way to use this now until someone decides to develop a custom handler for the new app.

just curious if someone was working on custom driver ?

I doubt it. This device really is a PITA to work with due to the fact that thereā€™s a built in timer of 10 minutes to turn itself off.

The development of a workaround to that limit, and or some kind of routine to always keep it from turning off was something I tried to do. Mine ended up breaking and I replaced it with a WOOX valve and I couldnā€™t be happier:

There are some cheaper valves via Ali Express dot com, which I believe may still require adapters, but Iā€™m not 100% sure about that. I may try one next summer to see how they survive the SE weather.
