ST hub died so I purchased sth-eth-1 on ebay, actually new in the box. Registration ok. Won’t connect to anything. Using my.smarthings.com advanced it shows hub doesn’t support zigbee and hub doesn’t support zwave. Could that be accurate?
Can you post an image of the front of the box?
SmartThings Hub 1st Generation (STH-ETH-001) Is the original V1 hub and they were shut down about 7 years ago so they no longer work. If you purchased it on eBay, return it and get your money back.
You need at least a v2 hub (STH-ETH-200 or 250).
Well, the seller doesn’t accept returns so I guess it’s buyer beware. Appreciate your update.

You should try disputing it with eBay. I bet you would prevail in getting your money back since the item does not work.
Also have an STH-ETH-200 that shows similar in advanced settings. Is it still supported?

If it hasn’t been connected for a period of time… you should try the troubleshooting found in this thread: https://community.smartthings.com/t/troubleshooting-smartthings-hub-2018-and-aeotec-hub/298332
If you continue to have issues, you will need to speak with one of the support staff on the community. We can tag them for you if needed.
Returned one and purchased two more. Spent 2 hours on the phone with ST support and did the usual multiple resets. I know have two hubs that act the same way after you enter the registration code. Solid green light and ST support confirms that s/n 3010224578 and 3010176669 are registered. 3010193686 also registered but I know it wasn’t me and when I enter the code I get a server error so that one is off the table. For the 2 with the green light both show no zigbee or zwave available. I have a switch and have been trying to troubleshoot using port mirroring and wireshark but ST is basically telling me that these devices are old and therefore probably won’t work. Presumably this is because they have been offline and missed some crucial updates and there is no way to get them. ST then suggested that I purchase a V3 model. They are unaware that you cannot find one available in the United States. I did find a few available on the German Amazon however Aeotec support told me that while they might work in the US the Z-wave frequencies here are different from Europe so any Z-wave devices will not work. THIS IS SO TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Where are the developers in this process? ST told me he didn’t think it was an issue because they haven’t been getting many calls. Maybe everyone gave up and switched to home assistant. It just seems that if the servers are there to recognize and register the device then there should be away to provide the necessary updates.
yes… it appears New Aeotec V3 hubs have been out of stock for months now at many retailers and the Station went on clearance in January/February and haven’t been seen since. The reason may be that a new V4 hub may be released at the end of August or in September. No announcements have been made yet except that they have appeared in South Korea. So only thing I can say is stay tuned.
This is not something Samsung have any control over. The FCC decide the frequency for Z-Wave in the US.
There are many community members who can help more than I, but if you post some screenshots of your https://my.smartthings.com/advanced/hubs for one of your correctly connected hubs I, or one of the others can have a better idea of what is happening.
Normally you would be advised to obfuscate the serial number, but as you have already shared them, and they would help us verify the hub in question.
I started my SmartThings journey with a second hand V2 hub from eBay and it’s been working reliably for 3+ years.
Sorry, that comment is in the wrong spot. What is unacceptable is that the Aeotec v3 is not available in the US and even more that the is no engineering support to get an older v2 on line.

Hi @MrBlz
Sorry, I am a bit confused. On a laptop I get much more expansive hub details.
Also one of your pictures has a Firmware Version: 000.057.00014 (the latest version that I have) while the other has ‘blank’.
The following are the (obfuscated) Summary and Characteristics for my spare V2 hub:
“I agree. This is a total disregard for the consumer. I believe the blame lies with both companies: with Aeotec, for being the only one authorized to sell the hub and not having the product available, and with Samsung, for continuing to offer an operating system for hardware that is no longer on sale. This situation frustrates customers and demonstrates the lack of coordination between the two companies.”
Yes, so the one with firmware 57.0014 is from my running device (since 2018) and the other is from one I purchased from eBay to configure for a friend whose hub just died. I have been able to use the code and add the hub and can see it in ST. However, in the advanced it shows no firmware and zigbee and zwave unavailable. ST support states that this is because it is an older device. I have two devices that do exactly the same thing. Someone suggested an expired certificate and I tried the reset procedure followed by blocking NTP but that did not help. It would really be nice to have a conversation with the next level of engineering and I am in the process of writing to Samsung North America to ask for assistance. It is truly frustrating.
OK, understood.
Using a laptop, or other larger screen computer, can you produce the equivalent of the two screenshots I gave as an example. Do this only for the problem hub. I was hoping to see the complete Summary and Characteristics to understand as much as possible about the problem hub.
