Old Schlage Open/Close sensors

I have a couple old DWZWAVE1 Door & Window Sensors. I had them paired to an old Smartthings Hub and now need them paired to a new V3 hub.

I have tried over and over to exclude and then include them using the supplied instructions (removing and reinserting the battery). I can get them to exclude, but cannot for the life of me get them to include. I have tried excluding 10+ times before including, but no success. What am I missing?

if you are using a custom device handler, open them in IDE and Publish for Me again. Then exclude and try to add

They were included in an old hub that I sold with a house. I can remove the custom device handlers from my current account and try that.
