[OBSOLETE] Bosch Motion Detector

I bought it online from SAGE website. Too bad their product didnt work.

@abostian. No my model number is different. It is ISW-ZPR1-WP13 same as SANDY.
And yes i used to code as is without any change.

@smartbk Ah, thanks. I’m messing with the fingerprint section right now. Wondering if I just need to stick my model # and deviceId in there. Assuming there is more to it though…

Edit: I copied/modified this fingerprint (changed the model number) and re-paired the device and it is getting detected as a ‘Bosch Motion Sensor’ (woohoo!). Seeing some weirdness where the device is getting wiped out of my ST app on my phone, and even though now I get states in the IDE of battery, motion, and checkinterval, I’m not getting back any actual events…

fingerprint profileId: “0104”, deviceId: “0402”, inClusters: “0000, 0003, 0500, 0020, 0402, 0001, 0B05”, outClusters: “0019”, manufacturer: “Bosch”, model: “ISW-ZDL1-WP11G”, deviceJoinname: “Bosch Motion Detector”

@MadDucks You are the man! After I changed the model in the fingerprint to my model and re-paired the device, and waited a few minutes it started working! Took me a while to figure out what I was looking at but I think we’re golden now. THANK YOU!

No problem - Happy to help - the author of the DTH is really the one to thank. I didn’t even have to change the DTH (Dang it!). I’m happy we all get to smartify our homes

i have it in my stair way , still trying to see optimal place, but for now turning :bulb:on lights in stairway on motion :walking: :runner:

Hi guys I have access to thousands of these motion sensors and have them for sale now on amazon.

But I am in the same boat as you guys were. I tried installing one of my Bosch Motion Sensors and ST saw a new thing but that is as far as it goes. This convo got a little disjointed but ended up in a win. I got onto the ST developer app and I see everything you guys are talking about but don’t really know what information to put where in there. Little help please. Thanks Matt

Here is another version for the bosch DTH, updated according to the latest code in Smartthings public (smartsense motion sensor). Also made some adjustments to the battery measurement 3-6 volts instead. The update also fixed the device being wiped in the mobile app(android).

DTH can be found here: https://github.com/tomasaxerot/SmartThings/tree/master/devicetypes/tomasaxerot/bosch-motion-detector.src

Need help pairing. I have WP11G model and I’m not sure of steps. Can someone help?

Hi Clinton,

Here are instructions for setting up the device handler and start the pairing process: DTH Setup

Here is a link to the manual for Bosch detectors: Manual

Overview:

Install DTH -> Add thing -> plopp in the batteries -> Close the lid -> Thing found -> Walking test -> Done

Thank you! Worked for me. Bought 2 for $25 in recent sale and was about to return them because they were being found but not getting added to ST and then came here and found your DTH. Appreciate the help. I have 2 Visonic door sensors as well. Imported your DTH for that as well. Any idea how I can reset the Visonic sensor.

Edit: Found this and I believe TYCO ans SAGE are the same company - anyways this worked and the door sensor is reset.

To reset the Tyco Door/Window Sensor

If the sensor fails to connect, it may need to be reset:

Carefully open the sensor’s cover and pull back the clip to remove the battery
Press and hold the sensor’s tamper switch
Reinsert the battery (make sure it is positioned correctly)
Wait 4 seconds, and then release the tamper switch
This will reset the sensor. Follow the first set of instructions above to then connect the sensor with SmartThings.

Although not a big deal, I noticed the red light stopped working with the DH.

Yes - this is something I noticed too.

@tette - also the ST app records motion and stops immediately and the device doesn’t show any updates.

BOSCH Motion Sensors

I have other motion sensors which does actually update the device to show blue and say motion when it detects motion.

ST Motion Sensors:

Can these be made to do the same please?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi Abhi,

I can see motion in the android ST app at least, but for the bosch motion sensor according to the documentation for normal mode it will only detect motion every 3 minutes. So if it have just detected motion it will not detect any motion for 3 minutes. Im not aware that this time can be changed. Guess it is some sort of energy saving feature.

Not sure what red light you are refering to, but if you mean the main led diode it is not used in normal operation, you will only see it during pairing and walking test.

You can see both the 3 minute motion detection and how the led is working in the manual under normal operation: Manual

I just received my motion sensor (same Amazon deal), I followed the instructions and paired it with ST and everything including the walking test went fine. However, right after the walking test, ST shows a device unavailable error. I tried removing and repairing it, and I see the exact same issue.

Is there anything else to be done for device installation?

This is what I see right after the walk test:

Hi kmugh,

No idea at the moment, is it unavailable right away or after ~12 minutes (which is the check interval when reporting has been setup). (Well you write right after which is a bit strange)

Ping doesn’t really work for the Bosch PIR due to reading attributes requires motion to be triggered. So pretty much the temp reporting keeps the Bosch PIR “alive”.

Could you send the logs which covers the initial setup, then I could have a look and see if I can see something suspicious.

@tette

Attached is the log for the sensor, starting from a fresh clean association. After association and after a walk test mode (when I put back the back lid - after associating with ST), the sensor shows up as “Active” without reverting to Inactive (no motion around sensor). After about 10 minutes, the sensor shows up as “Unavailable” with a “This device is unavailable at the moment” message (same as before). When it becomes unavailable, there is nothing in the live log.

I remove all the batteries (I was only removing the top 2 to reset previously), and I started from scratch. Both sensors work well and report temperature and battery.

Motion goes from inactive->active->inactive pretty quickly (within a minute) - not sure if this is intended or if there is a setting somewhere to hold the state for 3 minutes (same as hardware).

I am having the same issue with it going to inactive almost immediately. Hopefully this can be fixed with the dth. As an example, say I have the motion sensor in the closet to turn on the light with motion. If I walk in and stand still for more than a couple seconds it will go straight to inactive then as normal wait a few minutes before recognizing anything again.

The instantaneous active -> inactive is okay for me - since the hardware itself has a 3minute turnaround time.
May be there should be a third state (say “IDLE”) in the dth to indicate this …
