New Smartthings V4 Hub released, do you already know about it?

New Smartthings V4 released, have you heard about it?

I came across a post in Korea and have been following the new release of Samsung Smartthings version 4, sold by Samsung itself. Is it true? Has anyone seen this before?

@Andreas_Roedl , can you check to see if it’s been matter certified?

It’s made by ThingsOne (you can see the logo in the box), but does not appear yet as a Works With SmartThings device:

Oh, ThingsOne is Samjin (“SAMSUNG Electronics 1st tier Strategic Supplier for Smart Device”)

Nowadays, they don’t really certify the hardware, but the firmware. So it would only show up as “SmartThings Hub Platform” or something like that.

Where it should appear is in Thread certified devices since that’s usually per device instead of the Matter controller software, although Samsung has only one entry for all the TVs with Thread so… Anyway, doesn’t appear there yet, the Station or the Aeotec do appear.

I don’t think so…

When Samsung divested the V3 hub to Aeotec it was sold under Samjin in Korea. I’d expect similar to happen with the V4 where it will sold under the Aeotec brand outside of Korea.

Looks much smaller than V3 hub. About the same size as the station.

… and it comes with a valid SSL/TLS certificate.

I spoke with him. He told me that sales are expected to begin between late August and early September.

Sales globally or in Korea only?

I believe it is in Korea

SmartThings unveils plans for future AI including ambient sensing technology and Gen AI allowing users to customize their homes for a better life

Underpinning all these technologies is a revolutionary approach to data processing that ensures all information will be stored locally on your network. Unlike traditional cloud-dependent systems, this technology will offer privacy by keeping your data entirely within your home hub which lives within your favorite Samsung appliances and devices. None of your data will be stored in the cloud or accessible to third parties without your consent, giving you control over your personal information.

And then they make you turn over your hub, and even remove it from a wall mount, to scan a QR code to install it …

The Google tells me no Z-wave…

From the limited interpretation of the video I got using the Samsung Interpreter app on my Galaxy phone, he mentions the fact that it doesn’t have the wireless charging feature of the SmartThings Station which allows for better placement, so I’m thinking it’s an upgraded SmartThings Station hub without the wireless charging capability and programmable button, but unlike the Station hub, it does appear to have an Ethernet port.

If it doesn’t have z-wave, then it’s still not a complete replacement for my V2 hub. I guess it’s just time to find a zigbee or matter siren thing that will run local on SmartThings to replace my old z-wave siren with.
