Its bad… I just brought another M5… More money!
I didn’t know updating the firmware was that simple, on the instructions i thought it said something about usb sticks, and was too busy to investigate further (when it was in the office) also in the office it was on an archer c9(also tried hardwired) at home a c8 all with the same results. I have only been controlling it through the phone app via wifi.
As winter decided to hit me today, I have to go home and plow the driveway so I will update the firmware while there and see if that makes the difference. It makes me hopeful that a few of you had that high of opinion of them, if this doesn’t work I’ll try exchanging it out as warranty.
I believe this process only works if its successfully connected to your wifi, other wise you can do it two ways, via the app when your phone is connected to the samsung wifi it makes, or via USB. But it works well, just after you hit the button, don’t interrupt it, wait a considerable amount of time (maybe at least 10 minutes).
Good luck, hopefully yours is just firmware or hardware, and not infact as bad as thought!
Use the Sonos Apps from within the Marketplace. They work with the samsung speakers. I have the 750HW so I know they work with that model.
This was 100% firmware issue. I really regret not recording a before and after because it was literally night and day. Thank you for your insights/help!
Great! Glad you’re happy
I just picked up one at Sams and grouped it with my M5. As a speaker, it’s not too bad. I hid it in my dining room just to pump a little more audio in there. I intend to pick up an M7 also. These are good speakers to have for ambient music but don’t expect them to rock.
I’m looking forward to a more robust ST integration.
Issues I have;
Biggest Issue -> Speaker(s) just go stupid and Multiroom App cannot see them. I have to power cycle the M5 for it to be recognized again. Not an ST issue but a WAM Issue. This is most aggravating.
I play soft music mostly and announcements from ST events can barerly be heard. I would like to be able to set the volume for the notification and then set it back.
I have never had to power cycle my M3’s or M5’s. Ive had them for 9 months now. I do have a bridge for them though, but that shouldn’t matter.
These speakers (M’s or R’s) really start to shine when paired in stereo. I’d love to have 2 in every room, but thats a bit cost prohibitive.
You can actually set a “Temp volume for announcemnt” within the notify app… At least thats what I do?
Dean,
Are you using Sonos Notify?
Hi, sorry, I thought I did, but it apppears im using this instead - https://github.com/SmartThingsUle/DLNA-PLAYER/blob/master/MediaRenderer_Connect.groovy
Uses the same logo, which is why I got confused.
I had Samsung HW-H750 Wireless Audio Soundbar with me for a year now and it had done a great job syncing wirelessly with my Samsung TV.
Now the thing is, this soundbar is a little misleading, I had initially thought it could connect wirelessly to my wifi and to smartthings hub, but I was wrong. I could only get it to work by connecting it through cable.
Am I correct or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.
I have a HW-H750 and have it setup on my wifi. Once on the wifi, my ST hub sees it. I use TV Soundconnect for my sound source on a Samsung 4K TV. I can control volume and muting with the ST app when my TV i powered on, but usually just use my directv remote
Hi Frank, thanks for your reply. I finally managed to get it to connect to my wifi setup. Can get rid of my Lan cable now. Yeah!
Got the R1 delivered today. I updated to latest firmware 3021.3. Everything worked well using Samsung Multiroom Android app. I connected it to ST successfully using Samsung Audio (Connect) smartapp. I got the Samsung speaker thing control the speaker correctly: Play, Pause, Prev, Next… However, I can’t play any notification to the speaker using any of these smartapp: Sonos, BigTalker, Media Renderer Event. I don’t know what’s wrong. Anyone has it working for notification?
Text To Speech is broken on ST. If you check this out:
I’ve tried to compile a list of all the known working phrases.
Please by all means try some out and if you fine others add them to the list.
I updated to latest Media Renderer Event smartapp (https://github.com/SmartThingsUle/DLNA-PLAYER/blob/master/Media%20Renderer%20Events.groovy) and force TTS, then it worked with limitied messages. I tried “A Door Opened” message and it worked.
If you can add that one to the list on the thread I linked to that would be great.
Hello,
I just bought a Samsung 360 R5 (WAM5500), cost quite a few bucks, because it said on the box it was working with Smartthings. Can’t pair it. Any ideas?
Did you update the R5 firmware with the samsung app?
My mM7s weren’t discovered with the ST app until I did this
