New Map View Feature (to visualize where devices are located in your home)

That would be nice!

Work Around in the Meantime: I ended up connecting to from my computer to my phone via Dex. That was a big improvement !

It’s not bad at all given that you can zoom in and out, focus on an area and also do 3d or 2d

SmartThings app Home Status Temperature is different on Android vs iOS.

On iOS I’m seeing the multipurpose sensors in the Home Status Temperature list, but I’m not seeing them on Android.

On iOS, I’m an able to unselect the multipurpose sensors in the Home Status list so that I only see the motion and thermostat sensors. So when looking at the Map View for Temperature only in iOS, it shows only the devices I’ve selected which is what I want. However there’s a problem on Android since I cannot see the multipurpose sensors on the Home Status list to unselect them, when I look at the Map View for Temperature on Android, it is showing all the multipurpose sensors.

So there seems to be a bug in the Android version of the SmartThings app.

Please make these small improvements to be able to use it as a dashboard on a tablet. Allow the user to change the background color.
Allow the user to hide filters on the screen so that the map is larger. When will it be possible to access the map via the browser page? I really wanted to display my map on the echo show

Now the iOS app is showing all of my temperature sensors on the Map, and since there’s a major issue with the iOS app’s Home Status feature, I can not change anything since I’m not seeing anything available in Home Status anymore.

This morning, I was having a few issues with SmartThings Routines half running. Anyway, I decided to reboot my Hub, and WALLA, the Android app Home Status seems back to normal since it’s showing all of my contact sensors in both Temperature and Doors and Windows now. So now the Temperature Only Map is showing me just the devices I want to see now, YEA!

The iOS app is still showing nothing, but they have acknowledged the issue with iOS. However, after selecting the Temperature devices I want to see on the Temperature Only Map in Android, the iOS app Temperature Only Map is now showing the same which is good.

There is a new Map ‘Labs’ feature in Android Map settings for a ‘Pet’. It’s a little ‘puppy’ moving around the house Map, and it’s very cool that the little puppy uses the doors and hallways in the Map layout when it moves around. Just tap a room and the little puppy will move to that room. Tapping the puppy (petting it) makes it jump and wag its tail. (Smile)

Definitely a programmer with too much time on their hands.

Where can I find the labs setting?

So there’s a Lab in Labs .

Labs are located on the Menu page in the US. I don’t know if all areas have access to Labs.

I don’t have access to the map thing listed above probably because I don’t have a Samsung device.

The labs menu is unfortunately georestricted to the US and South Korea, meaning that these features aren’t available anywhere else. It’s been like that since labs launched in 2021 (see here: SmartThings Blog) and, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon.

A quick follow-up on my previous comment:

Some of the labs features are distributed throughout the app and have an orange label. I just updated the SmartThings app on Android (version 1.8.17.22) and now the pet feature also pops up in Map View. So while we don’t have access to all labs features outside of the US and Korea (e.g. the labs feature allowing you to use old galaxy phones as light sensors is not available outside of these two countries), some do make their way to Europe and the rest of the world too.

We’ve actually had it our side of the pond for years but it hasn’t crossed the Channel.

The catalogue entries for the Labs apps show availability in the United Kingdom, USA, Canada, South Korea and India.

As you have noted, the app also flags a number of other features with a red/orange and white ‘Labs’ logo.

With this new update now many of the filters (lighting, temperature, air quality) don’t use all my devices available, for example I have temperature sensors in all rooms, but only 3 show temperature data, the same with lighting, only the light groups show up when filtering by lightning. Does anyone else is experiencing this?

You know you can select the devices?

Not talking about the Home Status section, all the devices are selected in the Home Status.

In the map view, when I click show all devices, the devices show on the map, but when I click on lighting, then all my lights disappear, and only light groups remain in the map.

Sorry. I was in the wrong thread…

:grimacing:

I’ve finally been able to take a look at Map View. I seem to be missing something fundamental with regard to scaling in that there doesn’t seem to be any that makes sense.

I think that the idea is that the map is drawn on a grid. The size of that grid is not quantified but it seems to be controlled by the device icon size slider which is a little bizarre as the layout is created in stage 1 and you don’t get to see the slider until you add devices in stage 3. How does importing a layout work alongside this?

The problem is the interiors. The layout and structures like doors scale with the grid. The furniture doesn’t. Slide the device icon from left to right and your furniture and appliances are transported from Brobdingnag to Lilliput.
