First impression: the Zigbee firmware works better than the Thread firmware.
Interesting — for my part I connected via Thread Matter and everything works well, I’m pleasantly surprised. However, I don’t have these options in this mode. If I switch it to Zigbee, would I need an Edge driver to get the same options in SmartThings?
We can configure the device via Zigbee only. Yes, we would need a custom Edge driver. My device is currently stuck again and doesn’t clear the presence. Doing more tests tomorrow to see if it’s a faulty device…
It clears the presence when I switch to PIR only and back to both:

I’m guessing you’d lose the zigbee configuration as a result of switching back to thread, and lose in your goal of moving as much as possible to thread?

FP300 can now detect not only presence, but also absence.
To fix, mine have been stuck on presence, so not much use.

Nope. You’ll have to switch to the Zigbee firmware and back to the Thread firmware.
So do you need an aqara hub to perform the update, or does ST deliver the firmware to the device. I assume there’s a single firmware image for zigbee and thread combined not separate or incrementals ?
When you reset and add the device via Bluetooth to the Aqara Home app, a pop-up asks you if you want to switch to the Zigbee firmware. The firmware is uploaded to the device via Bluetooth.
I know of only one (Matter/Thread) device that can be updated through ST: the Eve Energy.
Does Aqara provide release notes for their devices somewhere? Or how would I be able to know if there’s an update available for the FP300?
