I am using the new Smarthings app, and I am trying to modify an existing automation. I keep getting “Network Error - could not add automation”. I only have 5 or 6 automations, and I have tried both Ipad and Iphone. Any ideas?

What happens if you try to build a second automation just like it from scratch? Network error is the app’s way of running home to momma when it doesn’t know how to express itself, it’s erroring on something but honestly it could be any component of that automation…
I’d bet money that if you try to build similar automations with the various components in that one that’s blowing up - one at a time you’ll figure out which device / setting is throwing the error. So if your automation needs location mode + three other devices, try building a new one starting with “IF location mode THEN trigger a notification” and save it. Worked? Ok go back and edit it, add device number 1, then save. Device two? Still Ok? Save. Three - Network Error? Ok now we know it has somethin to do with device three…
