Starting today, Google has enabled two new features for Nest / Android users:

  1. You can now control your Nest thermostat using voice commands. (“Raise the temperature to 21 degrees Celsius”)
  2. Your mobile phone can be used as a presence device, letting Nest know if you’re Home/Away and even if you are on your way home.

This doesn’t directly impact SmartThings users, except I wonder if Google is doing mobile presence differently or better than the SmartThings app. Also, instead of just Home and Away, maybe the SmartThings app could benefit from having an “on the way home” status type?
